not necessarily , OMNI2 usually airs foreign movie with subtitles ( mainly Chinese movie ) , so it's probably the same thing they are doing..

Well this is good. Hopefully I won't have anything to do on those days.

Well when they air we can verify who handled the translation in the credits. Most of the movie OMNI Ontario pick up seem to be those licensed for distribution in North America.
It would be awesome if Rogers decided to pick up the NANA TV series to air on CityTV or OMNI.

Another reason for me to watch that station; not just for the dramas no more. Hehe...

I believe that this is the first time that OMNI is attempting to air a movie from a Japanese manga & anime series in live-action from from Japan.
Let's hope OMNI continues airing live action shows from Japan including that Sailormoon Finale act and the Hana Yori Dango live action episodes.

I hope this is on Omni 1, not 2. We don't have cable so I usually miss out what's airing on YTV etc.

This is so awesome! Even though I actually didn't think too much of the NANA movies (as adaptations go, they were just too rushed), but I'm really exciting about the idea of them being on TV with subs!

According to OMNITV.ca, they'll be on OMNI.2

I think some people are misinterpreting this. OMNI is a multicultural channel that broadcasts foreign-language movies and programs in their original language. Their Japanese news program, Wai Wai Wide, is not subtitled and to my knowledge is still not even closed captioned.
Chances are that the broadcast will be raw. If there's any subtitles at all, expect them to be (as kurotsuki said) in Chinese to match their core foreign-language viewership.

Most of the Chinese origin films on this station broadcast with subs, but there's no guarantee it will be the case every time.

Bad news for this weekend, I emailed Omni and it turns out my ability to read Chinese is worse than my ability to understand Japanese.
Below is the reply I received.

Thank you for your email.
We do make every effort to obtain blockbuster movies from Hong Kong, from top distributors. Most of the movies are sent to us with English subtitles from the distributor.
However, there are a few movies that do not have English subtitling. This is not under our control and sometimes not even under the control of the distributors -- as the movies are produced without subtitles.
In the case of next Saturday's movie (October 20th) this is a Japanese original production that was versioned with Chinese subtitles.
