So they basically are taking out the 2 things that make the series interesting? That sounds incredibly dumb. Haruka better still be gay. He was one of the very few examples of gay characters done right in anime.

Japan is still very no homo. That's too bad if that's really the case. I hope it's more bait-and-switch and they're not saying much about those 2 plot points on the website, but when you're watching in the theater, BAM, love triangle and mystery solving, ahoy! And we're off to the races! That I'd go see.

This headline should read: "Haruchika live action movie not actually based on Haruchika at all."

I may not have watched the series but I think maybe it´s too complicated to include both of the aspects that were erased into a movie(maybe it´s only one movie). Not everything has to be 1:1.

Wow, just wow. That's incredibly dumb. Haruta is gay, not bi and sureny hetero. This is just flat-out erasure.
Their dynamics and mystery solving are the two highlight of the work.

I'm not too concerned since the downplaying is being done by the website's synopsis, so it's probably done for marketing. The film could still have those elements but it is possible the focus groups they tested reacted stronger to this synopsis.
