I'll be interested in checking out the PA Works deal, hopefully they have merchandise for Hanasaku and Shirobako specifically. I am not going to hold back that weekend at all.
Next is Masao Maruyama. I have a lot of respect for his long and prolific career. I can imagine the stories he has are quite epic. LeSean Thomas seems like a really cool guy. His passion for animation is really inspiring, and although I didn't back Cannon Busters, I have been following it's production via his twitter and other backers and it does sound really cool, so I'll try to see him. As a backer of Under The Dog, I'm going to try to see that panel as well. Meeting Koji Morimoto would be incredibly neat. If only Masahiro Ando was coming too. Other than that, I'm not sure. I have zero interest in English Dub actors, and not much more in seiyu, but I might check out All Off, since they did the Mob Psycho ED this season. |

If you're thinking that the animator Koji Morimoto will be at Otakon, then stop while you're ahead. He will not be at the con, & he has no involvement with Under the Dog. The Koji Morimoto that will be at Otakon is a producer for Bandai Visual & the head of Emotion. He helped produce every single Go Nagai mech anime since 2000 (minus Koutetsushin Jeeg, oddly enough), as well as stuff like SRW Divine Wars & the original OVA, plus the parody series Panda-Z. |

Masao Maruyama showing up every year is pretty much a given. I'd be shocked if he DIDN'T show up.

I was able to check this out at AX2016. It was an interesting display, they had standees for just about all the works they did, and merchandise from Charlotte and Angel Beats which was pretty neat. They also had production artwork and sketches from Angel Beats and costumes from Charlotte and Angel Beats.
Was worth checking out. |

Considering sometimes these cons have industry panels, it would be nice if they could explain the Netflix situation with "Kuromukuro". It should be available with all the current episodes to the USA. That's why it might have been better to go with a site like YT or CR.

The international rights for that show are likely held by Pony Canyon and sold to Netflix domestically and internationally for streaming. PonyCan USA has announced desire for a physical release as well. PA Works has little to nothing to do with that decision, so asking them will get a "we'd love to work with YouTube or Crunchyroll (but we don't control that aspect)" response that's essentially meaningless. You'd be better off sending an e-mail to Pony Canyon's JP offices. |
