I think a bigger question is why American companies can even sell that stuff over here since most hentai is about underaged high school girls. Even if they say "All persons depicted are over the age of 18" I don't think that actually fools anyone. Plus there's all those fanservice shows likes Strike Witches that show completely naked girls who are outright stated to be around 13-15 years old.

So when he said Amazon refuses to carry hentai does he mean like you can't buy them directly from Amazon? Because I've seen a lot of hentai, even recently, listed for sale on Amazon.

Being cartoons helps a lot, I'm sure. Obviously, there are examples of where such material has still been considered "obscene" though not necessarily pornographic, but I think for the most part people realized that resources would be better spent dealing with content involving actual underage individuals. Also, several sizeable and reputable companies are involved in the licensing, production, and distribution of titles like Strike Witches etc, and it's not like they go to any effort to hide that, so I think the answer to the question of "how?" is that there isn't any indication that anyone is going to stop them. I don't think trying to make that legal case would be worth it when there are actual fish to fry.

God damn Japan's porn laws are messed up. I've seen all sorts of porn from Japan covering all sorts of very specific... interests. A lot of really gross crap (Sometimes literally) you'd almost never see in western porn. Hell, it was only recently that they really started cracking down on child porn (And even then that doesn't apply to manga).
All that's okay, but you can't show some guy's dong? Come on guys.

It's art thats why. There are a couple of raunchy comics about childhood/teen sexuality that make it through for this exact reason. Sometimes the shit does have to make it past the radar, and cartoons, and comics are usually the only way (after all cant go around using REAL children for this kind of thing). The Raunchy comics are usually not supposed to be "titillating" but have a serious point, question or discussion behind them. But then where do you draw the line?
Some people find it attractive, others dont, where do you draw the line between titillating, and informative satire? I do agree shows like Strike Wtitches (Which I've never watched for this exact same reason) are kinda obviously intended to titillate, but Again I've seen WORSE from a couple of French and Italian Artists.
Theres a heavily down voted movie on Netflix (fuckin normies) about sexuality in comics, I recommend you check it out if you're into art like that.

It is also weird because like Amazon sells a ton of porn digitally. We have some kind of weird monster fetish renaissance going on because of Amazon and the Kindle.

On the other hand, it's clear that producers in Japan have started realizing their fans don't like the censorship, and while they obviously can't get rid of it, it's clear that there's more effort put into making the censorship better, instead of just throwing a huge mosaic circle over the whole thing like they used to. Which can actually be a good thing because good censorship over poor material actually improves said material because you fill the blanks yourself.

I don't think that is about fooling anyone. How old is a fictional character? Don't you pretty much have to go with how old the creator says? Drawn characters, much like real people, don't always look exactly their age. Take Guts from Berserk, he apparently was under 20 for the Band of the Hawk part. Do you really get to go 'no fudge you, you drew him looking at least mid 20s so his actual age is mid 20s'? That seems like a really dumb idea.
Looking at some one whether it is a real person or a 2d drawing is not an accurate way to know age. If it was, the whole idea of id'ing people would make no sense. If you can't even use that method on real people, how the hell can you even think it could work on 2d drawings that don't look realistic at all?

Aside from this article, I can never be sure if there are any new Hentai out right now.
Has there been anything recent with a good story or what???

IMO, the answer is mostly no. A few decades ago hentai used to have more interesting story-lines, nowadays most have stories too similar to live action (b-o-r-i-n-g). I thought Alignment You! You! The Animation was kind of interesting, but I would not call it a must see.

At the risk of exposing myself, I recently found Energy Kyouka and The Rance 01 remake fun watches. Ane Yome Quartet wasn't bad either.

The real answer is: it doesn't get licensed anymore. New hentai hasn't been released here for like 5 years.

Kitty Media released Fuzzy Lips a couple of months ago,and soon they will release Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo.
And Germany has also been released a couple of new hentai lately, including Resort Boin.

I was actually surprised to see that Media Blasters is still doing anything with the Kitty Media label when browsing Right Stuf, but then again, I'm surprised that Media Blasters still hangs on. Maybe they saw the lack of hentai licenses as a chance to fill a gap in the market?

People like to say that Japan "doesn't care" about overseas anime sales, but they should look no further than hentai to see what happens when Japan truly doesn't care. With hentai, the overseas revenue doesn't outweigh the licensing hassle or the risk of reverse importation (not to mention bootlegged discs or downloaded rips of overseas uncensored releases), so they simply don't license it out.

Why should it apply to manga? How are actual children abused or exploited by somebody drawing pictures of imaginary characters? Assuming they're not forcing actual children to serve as models for those drawings, anyway.
