Why would KimiNozo need to be remade? Latest Edition already has pretty much everything one would want in a remake. They should just localize that.

Strategy. A Kickstarter for just the English localization of Kiminozo might be too niche to make it (even with its connections to Muv-Luv), but a remake could also pull in support from Japanese backers, timed to coordinate with the VN's 15th anniversary this year. If that's what they're doing, I can totally see it working. I mean, can you imagine the Kickstarter merch they could do for this campaign? Mitsuki's silver ring? Storybooks of Mayal's Gift and The True Treasure? The dolphin and octopus mugs of symbolism? This is gonna be great. EDIT: To the OP: also, don't know if you knew this, but there's a fan translation of Latest Edition going on at kiminozo.life (yes, that's a real URL, but phpBB can't link to it) |

I had already played Nekopara 0, and my interest was heavily attracted through the use of the animation which make it seemed like an interactive drama (though slice of life or ecchi whatever in this case.) I never played the adult version as I just disabled the function by removing the "adult content" file, since I am not much fan of an eroge. Maybe they wanna try to make an OVA out of it.

It's funny how one half of this forum is talking about Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and the other about NekoPara, and I will be mentioning both.
I REALLY hope NekoPara does not become a hentai anime. Yes, it is based off of an eroge, but there are plenty of eroge-based anime that aren't hentai! Truthfully, I'm interested in NekoPara, but I was never able to buy it on Steam. I am also someone who refuses to watch hentai or play eroge. Thus, I'm hoping that the NekoPara anime turns out to not be a hentai. However, whether it is or not, I hope that the Kickstarter is successful for those who will watch it regardless. As for Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, I remember watching the anime and falling in love with it. I've also had a slight interest in that visual novel, but I don't really see the need for a remake, even with the explanation above. In my opinion, an English localization should be enough. |

I'm wondering why in the world Kiminozo would need a remake. Even the original version had much better art/CG than some of Age's titles produced afterward.

Sekai has nothing to do KimiNozo and thank heavens for that. Degica has it and age should stick with them; They seem to be a perfect fit.
Its also silly to want a remake. The original holds up incredibly well. Maybe some higher res assets but it doesn't need a fullblown remake. |

Am I the only one who is still finding it weird that they Kickstart most their stuff still? I thought that was intended to be used for people with no money

Sekai Project has been really gracious in their panels (I saw them at AWA and ACen) in giving time and attention to others doing cool stuff in the VN space, particularly Degica and Muv-Luv. From the looks of Sekai's AX bog post, this looks like a joint Sayori / Sekai / Degica panel, which immediately followed a Sekai-only panel. Man, that's confusing. But it might account for why purely-Sekai announcements were in a separate ANN story. EDIT: Sekai confirmed in a tweet that Degica is publishing Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.
If you're talking about @enjoievan from Alternative Projects, it's also worth noting that he's the lead editor and a translator on Muv-Luv, and has been doing Kiminozo on his own time (at the aforementioned kiminozo.life site). This has the added benefit of fixing all the Kiminozo references that were missed in Amaterasu's original fan translation of Muv-Luv, like this one.
Aside from the fact that Kickstarter is a tremendously effective publicity and marketing tool, there's also the fact that it front-loads the risk into the campaign, rather than pouring resources into something that doesn't pan out and loses money. And Kiminozo is definitely a risk. In our Muv-Luv panel at ACen, most of the participants (including Theron from ANN and Dex from AniTAY) were skeptical that a Kiminozo / Rumbling Hearts VN localization kickstarter would be successful. Theron, in particular, felt that too much time has passed. Last edited by invalidname on Mon Jul 04, 2016 10:23 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I hope Nekopara is a playful ecchi, but not hentai.
