Okay, this is sort of a heady idea that came to me out of nowhere. (possibly Iowa, but I'm not sure). I'm sure a lot of us listen to music that isn't J-rock or anime soundtracks. Can anyone think of songs that they've heard that think should be in an anime. Like as theme music or a character's song. Here's an idea of mine. I have others, but this one comes readily to mind.

Carefree Highway by Gordon Lightfoot: Put this in Trigun, sort of as a song for Vash's wandering from place to place. The chorus echoes it perfectly "Carefree highway, let me slip away on you. Carefree highway, we've seen better days. The morning after blues, from my head down to my shoes. Carefree highway, let me slip away on you."

So, what do you all have?

Well, I'll often hear a song and think an anime music video should be made out of it. Is that the same thing?
I've been listening to a lot of Poe lately. I could probably place each and every one of her songs in an anime, mentally, if I tried hard enough. But I think I'd rather see anime music videos done to her stuff.
Hey, maybe I should start making AMVs.

Well, not exactly. I was aiming to find out if anyone thought that there were songs that people though should be in an anime's soundtrack. But, AMV's are cool too. I'm planning one for Initial D set to Don't Look Back by Boston.

I think it would have been neat if Pat Benatar's "Outlaw Blues" had been squeezed into Cowboy Bebop somehow. Even if it was only released on CD as an image song type deal. The lyrics seem very relevant, it sounds rather like something that might have been composed for CB, and the title even sounds like something from a Bebop CD.

"Hearts weren't made to be ruled
And rules weren't made to be broken
It's cold and lonely at the end of your life
And nobody sleeps til they turn out the lights
...For the Outlaw..."

Numerous other songs have stuck me as good material for AMVs over the years, but I can't think of any off hand that I thought belonged in the actual anime.

That reminds me, Pat Benatar's Invincible was once put to a music video of Gundam Wing on the 'net. Ironically the lyrics kinda fit with the show, so I think it would be cool if they worked it in somehow, or did a professional music video

I was actually thinking the same thing as I feel that a song shouldn't be used in an AMV unless you feel it would be fitting on the anime sources soundtrack.

That said I love really loud music, especially when it comes to AMVs, so I'd like hear stuff like Disturbed's Down with the Sinckness set to Soul Taker, System of a Down's Toxicity set to Metropolis, Adema's The Way You Like it set to Love Hina (white stripes' Fell in love with a Girl would be fun too), and a bunch more.

You know, I was thinking about this not too long ago...
Some really cool music video ideas (or at least good opeing songs, since i'm not too big of fan of J-pop/rock/metal)...
Outlaw Star - "Cowboys from Hell" Pantera (Guess it can work for Cowboy Bebop too)
-and-
Evangelion - "One Weak" Deftones
