Well, it certainly looks like they were going for variety, though none of it looked very good.

Well, THQ games were almost always terrible. So it's not surprising Akira met a similar fate.

Well, it probably didn't help that this was 1994 also.

They've tried to do all types of Akira games. FPS, pinball, etc. It probably just doesn't work in that format. Unless they're going for a GTA clone or MMORPG, I guess.

This news is old as hell. Even the source you provided (hardcoregaming101) provided their information in 2012.

Why did it take you guys four years to release this on your site? Confused

The re-edited footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfHOynqolOQ was uploaded six days ago. The long version of the actual footage is from February. Which is why the headline is about he footage resurfacing, not the game's existence but it's always a good idea to provide readers with all the background information.

If Akira the game ever got released I probably would have gotten it just because it's Akira and based off the video it looks like the kind of old school game that's so bad it's good. Smile

I love how we have a cheesy boss set up near the end, but when it starts Kaneda just punches Tetsuo a bunch of times until he turns into a monster and then Kaneda just punches him a few times before disappearing.

Red Faction, Saints Row, Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, and Darksiders would all like to disagree with you. THQ also published Metro 2033 and was originally going to publish Metro: Last Light and South Park: The Stick of Truth before it went bankrupt and had to liquidate its properties.

Homefront was indeed terrible, though. THQ had come very far from where it had started in the early 1990s, only to piss it all away.

It's like they took all these different game styles and threw them in a blender and forgot to seal the top.

Well now they're long gone,lol.

They pissed it all away, like he said, and nearly killed some good games in the process of dying. Some stuff is lost for ever in legal hell as well. Their fall was not pretty.

I love HCG101 they're really great on obscure titles like this. Man, this is a rare find. You never know what you'll discover.
