The voices for Kizumonogatari - and the Monogatari series as a whole - are so incredibly particular that they really better nail it or it's going to fall totally flat for me. I'm hoping for the best though!

This is such a fascinating venture that I hope succeeds. And it's probably the closest thing to ever get an English dubbed version of something from the Monogatari series.

First time I've ever heard of a light novel audiobook of a foreign work receiving English audio. In case of Kizumonogatari, it's as close of an English version of Bakemonogatari as we're going to get...at least for now...

Imagine someone who for some reason buys these audiobooks without ever having watched any of the anime or other series...
I wonder what kind of mental image they'll develop for the characters from listening only to the english audiobooks and descriptions? Definitely not anything close to Shinbo's vision, that's for sure... |

I have not watched any Monogatari series, but plan on buying the audiobook for Kizu. So this will be interesting

I would pay obscene amounts of money to be able to not have to listen to the jpn va and instead an english dub for the monogatari series. Since that's never going to happen this is probably the closest it'll ever come and I'm very interested in how it'll turn out! Never bought and audio book before but might just in this case.

I don't mind this existing, but I really wonder if it's going to be a successful venture. Interesting is the right word, for sure. I just can't imagine the expense of this being worth it. I would much rather read it myself, or even just have one guy read the whole thing, rather than an entire cast, including sound effects. Seems pretty over the top. It's almost interesting enough to make me want to buy it... I guess maybe that's what they're banking on.

There's actually an English audiobook version of All You Need is Kill, but it's not full cast. Actually, are these full cast? Or do they have interchangeable male & female narrators? I'm very interested, especially in Kizu (I've never seen any of the Monogatari series anime, but there's so much buzz around it). |

Wonder how they will be sold. Not on audible I guess.

Hopefully they might actually go for that, branching out in the most mainstream of audio book outlets would be a great option for exposure. The great thing about the ab market is it's easy to post chapters since it's digitally recorded and streamed nowadays, so it's a lot like buying a track off of spotify or Itunes.
Vee is a lovely actress, I'd buy it just to hear her reading me a story. AMusingly enough I'm visually impaired to the point that I can't read subtitles, so if I can grab one of these it'll be an interesting experience for sure. |

I've always loved how a lot of anime (and sometimes video games) in Japan get drama CDs, where the actors from the show will act out (usually original) stories. It's a shame stuff like that never gets dubbed, even if I do understand why.
This isn't the exact same thing, but this is probably the closest equivalent we'll ever get of those in English. I commend them for taking the risk, and really hope it ends up working out. |

I don't see how they have any choice. Audible is where the majority of audiobook listeners shop. Not putting it up there would be like releasing an ebook and not putting it on Amazon.
The book is in first person, so unless they're going to have Christine Vee reading a guy's narration, it's full cast. The only thing is, most audiobook readers I know don't like full-cast readings. You can adapt a story into a drama that drops most of the non-dialogue portions, or you can have one or two narrators reading the text straight, but mixing the two is awkward -- if you have a different person reading each character's dialogue, the "he saids" and "she saids" are just time wasters, and sound FX are unnecessary if the narration describes what's going on. |

So is Cristina Vee playing both Hanekawa and Kiss-Shot given this is Kizumonogatari? That should be interesting... and I think Erik Kimerer and Keith Silverstein should do decent jobs playing (I presume) Araragi and Oshino.

Not interested in buying an audio book, but dubbed voices for monogatari? Now that's the funniest thing i've read all week . I can see the train derailing off the old western-style bridge already...
