Sounds like nintendo is dedtendo.
The companies been on a lifeline for many years now, if Wii had not been a social phenomenon then the company would probably be out of the games business, its doubtful NX will save the company as most gamers and families have clearly moved on the the more western geared traditional and new creative experiences offered by third parties and companies like the recovered Sony and Microsoft. |

Overall, I was very satisfied with the Wii U. As was the case with every Nintendo console from the last 20 years, the first party titles were the real draw - and there were a lot of fantastic first party titles. All things considered, I liked the U considerably more than its three predecessors.

Translation: we HOPE the Wii U is discontinued this year otherwise it ruins our prediction of the NX coming out this year.

Wii U haters attacked its graphics. As if that matters. If graphics are a deciding factor, then maybe you shouldn't play video games.

I really wanted to get a Wii U but the only games that interested me on it were XenobladeX and SMTxFE.

So I'm guessing this means Zelda U will be the last major game Nintendo releases for the system.

Mostly I'm happy with what we got with the Wii U, I just wish we had a few extra titles to round it off. Mario Party 11, without the car this time around, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario and Kirby.

Well, that's unfortunate. I've only had my Wii U for a few months (got it at the start of December). I've also used it almost exclusively for Virtual Console (Only actual Wii games I currently own are Splatoon and Mario Maker, though I do plan on getting others). Though the lack of Game Cube playback (either from actual discs or through Virtual Console) is a real strike against it for me. There's only a few games on Game Cube I'd be super interested in anyway (Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem), since things like the Gamecube Zelda & Metroid games were remade for Wii & Wii U anyway.

Next White came way too early. Despite White Heart had the best sells in the 7th generation, she wasn't patient enough like Green Heart and Black Heart. Now, Next Black has the most Shares while Next Green is still topping Next White.

Nintendo has more than enough money to produce another 5 Wii Us and their failures. |

Isn't that rather jumping the gun of their demise? We don't know what the codename NX is capable of yet and one hopes they do not make the same mistakes as the Wii U especially from marketing standpoint. And not to mention they have their smartphone stuff and upcoming theme parks. |

Such terrible news.
Man, this whole day has been NOTHING but terrible news, but I won't go further than that. |

As of 2014, Nintendo had approximately 10.5 billion US dollars in cash reserves just sitting in the bank. As Irru said, they can easily afford to absorb some disappointing sales numbers that a lot of other companies couldn't.

I wouldn't call it terrible news. We knew all along the Wii U would not long survive the launch of the NX, and this is basically just saying that.

No matter how much money your company has, if youre making products no one buys it doesnt make sense to stay in that same market. Why else would companies that are in the positive spin off or get rid of divisions that arent moving product? |
