Huh. That's pretty cool, I know plenty of Gaia users who will enjoy this news.
Though, personally, I consider Gaia a hell-hole, almost as bad as 4Chan. Except everyone isn't running around as Anonymous, and I'm pretty sure porn isn't acceptable(Not that I haven't seen any there, just pretty sure it breaks the TOS). Not that EVERYONE who uses the site(Gaia) contributes to this, but I've run into enough elitists and idiots that I have a large distaste for the site in general.
That, plus I generally tend to prefer smaller message board sites. I don't like a less-popular topic being washed off to page 4 within three hours by numerous repeat threads for popular topics.
But there's plenty of people who don't mind such things, so they can enjoy the site if they want.

The appeal can't be found in the majority, however. If you really want to see the charm, you have to stick around and get to know the most popular, most well-noted areas. In every forum there's a user or thread that really grabs attention and it keeps it... hence its popularity.
They really haven't been working with any incredible popular titles. At least, that is how it appears on the surface. Ah! My Goddess and Tsubasa... we're the most note-worthy but that's all I can think of. I'm really surprised that they haven't tried more Naruto, Bleach, or even Fruits Baskets (hell.. why not Pokémon while we're at it!).
As for the actual MMVII movie... many users don't like it.

At this point, Gaia is far better at producing comics. Though, it must be noted that Gaia hired an outside studio to animate the short. I've seen the short, and I must say it's sub-par compared to the rest of their artistic projects. It almost seemed like an animation student's project at school. If Gaia's aim is to improve the quality of these animations as they create more, I wish them luck and hope they aren't putting money in the wrong places.

At minimum, atleast 4chan prides intself in sucking. Gaia portrays itself as good, on the other hand. Atleast if you go to 4chan, you know what your getting into.

Nowhere does it say it's an "anime," just an animated short, that happens to be in the range of anime-influenced.
And what you said is an oxymoron as well as being logically disjointed.
And don't categorize an entire subset of a medium into a lump sum of bias and egotism.
Robot Chicken will kill you.

There's no such thing as anime created by Americans, since if it's created by Americans it isn't "Japanese animation."
On another note, please endeavor to post within the scope of our rules in the future. This includes avoiding one liners (there's a ton of things you could have said to support your statement in order to turn it into a meaningful post), and using proper grammar (capitalization).

*Vents some frustration* It's people like this who lead me to believe I might fail as an anime-inspired comic artist just because I'm American...
On topic, I really hope Gaia does a better job next time. And while Gaia's art overall has been amazing, they need some help in the writing department... Their plots make little sense and seem to be whipped together and made up as they go. I don't like any of their characters much either. I only read the plot updates for curiosity's sake...I don't really enjoy them.
And on the site as a whole, I use it for hardly anything else but role playing and contact with friends. Look in the right place, and you'll find some really sophisticated literate RPs. Avatars are fun to mess with, especially when you've been on for a long time and have a lot of gold. But other than that, I don't really go into the discussion forums much unless I have an issue... And I hate the Gaia Cinemas A LOT. Yeah, it's just like a real theater...you can get just as annoyed with disruptive and distracting people as you can with in a real theater. Plus, I dislike streaming video... I'd rather wait for the whole thing to load and then watch it play without stopping. (Like YouTube! :3 )
