The Splatoon fans are so very salty over this. They're particularly bitter over Corrin. I don't mind much. Gameplay-wise, he's quite unique, and he looks really cool too. And she as well.
I must say though, the line "Big Brother's now Big Sister!" sounded REALLY weird. Me, I voted for the Inklings on the ballot the day it became available, but if Bayonetta is the winner of the poll, then hats off to her. I had been joking about Bayonetta joining Smash Bros. ever since Bayonetta 2 was a Wii U exclusive title with Nintendo backing it. Thus, I will need to get Bayonetta and learn how to utilize her well in this game. |

Best direct since the Lucas and Ryu one! Welp, salty fans cannot be satisfied, their tears are delicious...

As a big FE fan I'm okay with corrin joining. What he's doing in smash i asume is to promote the new game. He/she looks awesome with the dragon transformations and different. Boyonetta looks really cool and fun too.

I'm glad we're getting Cloud and Bayo, with that said, it's a bit annoying how many FE characters/swordsmen there are in the roster. Corrin does look unique though with the dragon, and that range is insane.

I was hoping Princess Daisy would be one of the Super Smash Ballot characters to be playable, but I'm ecstatic that Bayonetta was declared the winner!
 I honestly didn't think she would make it due to her...risque nature. Well, I look forward to seeing what she has in store for Smash.

I'd jokingly been saying Bayonetta should be in Smah for a while, then with the announcement of Bayonetta 2 as a Nintendo Exclusive, it seemed a bit more possible, but I pretty much game up hope on that when the E10 Rating was revealed.
Despite being a huge FF7 fan, Cloud's unexpected surprise addition to the roster has been eclipsed by Bayonetta, who I really wanted in this but gave up on. Great announcement for the final presentation. |

I'm super hyped for Bayonetta! Love that game.
Corrin on the other hand doesn't give me much of a reaction. I can see why people aren't thrilled at his inclusion seeing as he hasn't debuted stateside yet. |

The amounts of salt after the announcement of Corrin was incredible! SUre, there are a bit too many characters of FE, but I love that game, so Corrin's addition makes more hyped for the new game.
And although I love Bayonetta as a new character (I voted for her in the ballot), how can she be in the game and not Tharja?! That's the only grain of salt I'll throw to this direct. Anyway, I'll miss the Smash directs. Thanks, Daddy Sakurai! |

Disappointed by all.
I love Fire Emblem, but we really didn't need this new character. I have a very hard time believing Bayonetta was number one in the world. Hardly anyone ever talked about her. Both her games had abysmal sales too. After seeing these two characters, I've come to the conclusion these were put in for marketing purposes. To advertise the new FE and to show Nintendo has something other than "kids games" in their library. So to put it simply, the Ballot was beyond pointless. I like Bayonetta as a character and would've been totally fine with her being in the game so long as she wasn't the ONLY Smash Ballot choice. |

Or Naruto, SpongeBob, Shrek, Kratos, Elsa, Bomberman, Luke Skywalker, Mickey Mouse, Spider-Man, Sans, Twilight Sparkle, Doc McStuffins, Batman, or anything else kids (and big kids) really like and don't understand that they don't make sense in a Smash Bros. game.

Just because you don't hear anyone talk about her doesn't mean she isn't popular in some circles nor do the games selling abysmally mean much of anything either. Don't recall the Mother games taking Japan or America by storm and yet we got Ness and Lucas hanging around. |

I'm confident they are saving Splatoon characters for the next Smash game. Probably thinking of unique move sets that will fit Nintendo's next platform. Not sure about this localization job for Fire Emblem Fates as well. Most part, sounds more like a translation than a localization to make it smooth better. Hope that its not too much like that in the final product. |

I guess sakurai considered many things like fighter potential to decide who gets in. Also i wouldn't be surprised if shrek or goku ranked high on the ballot.
