While this is based in the same formula (for me) as Diabolik Lovers, at least the male characters seem less crazier and the heroine a bit more likable.
Interesting that the anime is a musical. |

I was pretty much expecting this to be a Diabolik Lovers rip-off (not that I would have minded and still would have watched it), but it's been really good and different so far! Haven't seen episode 2 quite yet, but glad that there's another insert song. An otome musical is everything I didn't know I needed in life.

As a huge (former) musical geek and Takarazuka fan, this is definitely something I need to follow, even though the campiness has me watching this preferably late at night and with a glass of wine at hand.
Looks like Rem and company have been doing this (whatever "this" will turn out to be) spoiler[for quite a while, mixing up the name of his current noble lineage] and whatnot. Also, relationships between cousins are considered to be acceptable in most 3D countries of the world, regardless of the possible higher risks for children, see this map. |

This show is goofy and stupid and freaking amazing all the same time. It is just the right mix of weirdness to get me to watch it. I think if it was lacking the musical numbers I'd be more "eh" about it. But that kicks up the camp just to the right place. And it is really fun music, so that helps a lot. Enjoying this one so far.

Legally acceptable, yes. Socially acceptable? That seems to be more ambiguous, at least in Japan. It seems to vary depending on who you ask. At the very least, the previous Prime Minister was married to his first cousin, and his family strong opposed the marriage. Though this being anime and more than a little escapist, they'll probably just chuck all that complicated stuff out the window. |

Just dropping in to say that blue dress in the middle of the image has a really eye-catching color. Jumps out at me every time I see it posted.

I'm so excited for this series so far. It's the gothy, campy fun I was originally hoping Diabolik Lovers would be until it just got waaaay too abusive for my tastes...BUT WITH MUSIC NUMBERS. As long as our male romance interests don't get TOO creepy/rapey, I think this'll be a fun ride.

"a lead with a brain" HALLE-freaking-LUJAH!
I'm not going to lie, I like reverse harems because they do one thing very differently then regular harems shows. In regular harems, the girls are rivals, and come from different places: childhood friend, forgotten fiancee, etc. They also hate each other in almost all series. In reverse harems the guys are usually together, a team. They could be brothers, they could all be guardians, or members of the same clan, but they usually DON'T hate each other, unless there's one guy from outside the group (like Lindo is here). They compete for the girl, but don't usually sabotage each other, and I really like that. It seems way more fair then how the girls usually try to make the other one look bad. Also, I don't think the devil boys will get rapey at all. Not even Shiki, the really creepy one. |

THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one going crazy with that weird shirt design. At first I thought it had blood splattered on it, but now it seems like that's how the shirt actually looks like. And that also appears to be Lindo's only shirt too. Every time I see it I get distracted tbh, the design is just so weird |

Instead they often try manipulate things through like making the heroine feel guilty and taking advantage of roles. Well what is mostly coming into my head was Brothers Conflict, where pretty much all the boys are trying to take advantage of her, except maybe the one good guy who is at the mercy of the others. Kind of like her brother is in this series.... but he is her brother. I don't think they are that different. You get some animosity, but it is common in both types to have a comradeship between the harem in how they like the same love interest. Although somewhat a parody, the example that comes to mind is If Her Flag Breaks. |

I get what you're saying, but even that is different. You don't usually see that in regular harems.

Yeah, the shirt's been driving me nuts too.
I thought those were just demonic sfx to lure her outside the gate (though had it been me, I'd have just looked out the window). We saw Azuna buying the creampuffs later and running off in a panic after picking up the voicemail from Ritsuka about going with Urie. At first I thought he might've faked that to keep Azuna from coming over, but Ritsu probably did call her when she went back inside the house "to get ready" to go, and she didn't wonder why Azuna never showed up once she made it home, so I think the call was genuine. That said, she could've been kidnapped after she left the bakery, but I think she did go to Ritsu's house, and that's how Lindo knew where to find her. Or he's sewn magical gps trackers into all her clothes - I would not put it past him. Why are vacant carnivals scary at night? Because they're kind scary in the daylight, if you ask me. Waaaay too many humanoid figures both 2D and 3D plunging you into the uncanny valley at every turn, and even the animaloids are caricatures, distorted in slightly creepy ways. Add the "you're not supposed to be here" vibe that any dark, abandoned structures give off, douse the lights, and presto - spoooooky. Crazy girls with fixed smiles chasing you is just the window dressing of fear. I'm having a lot of fun with this, but the main drawback for me is that the male character designs are too reminiscent of Diabolik Lovers. Nothing to be done about that now though. |

Where was evidence of Ritsuka having a brain in this episode? I sure as hell didn't see it. I don't know about everyone else, but if I go to school mid day to talk about my abducted mom, I'm fairly certain I'd start asking questions when a guy I've said all of 5 words to ever leads me to a big ass atrium with some creepy masquerade going on instead of, oh you know, the student council room we had always met at before?
This is all par for the course in reverse harem, but I was about to say she is one of the dumbest mains I had ever seen, far from finding her to have brains. Most of the time the leads in reverse harem are helpless more than stupid, but Ritsuka has actual family and friends trying to support her and she takes minimal effort to use them imo. Granted she has no friggin idea of what's going on so I do give some leeway there. |
