For anyone that doesn't know what that means...it's basically slaying God.

I pre-emptively call false advertising; nothing the Japanese title "Final" or "Last" ever really is.

Oh darn, Atlus's first SMT game since Persona-mania, and it's for 3DS only.
Still, at least 1, 2 and Nocturne are on soft-download for PS3.

I believe the title comes from when they were planning to rerelease an updated SMT IV, possibly with a new scenario attached, but then decided to make a whole new scenario instead.

It kind of goes without saying. An apocalypse could mean the end of the world, but that doesn't mean everyone's journey is finished. As far as I'm concerned, SMT4 has a proper ending.

The highlight of the stream was when the countdown ended and we were greeted with the return of YHVH. Hooooooly sh**, they aren't messin' around with this game.

Yes, it's also meant to double as "this is the last time we're making a game using the world of 'SMT IV'." "SMT IV" might be my favorite 3DS game, but I still hope they mean that.

Is this going to be for 3DS or exclusive to the new 3DS?

Surely you didn't expect them to actually bring the game to another system instead of reusing the 4th game's assets and releasing it on the 3DS.

I mean, yeah, if you ignore SMT: Strange Journey, both Devil Survivors, and SMT IV, it's 'first'.

Darn, the game footage appears as tough it's set in the exact same locations as Shin Megami Tensei IV. Story-wise, I can see that they'd have no other options, but the layout looks much the same too. I was hoping for something that looked very different.

Welll, slaying a god. Doesn't have to be the Judeo-Islamic-Christian God.

I think he means "actual SMT" (AKA "even the Japanese title has 'SMT' in it"), and I'm pretty sure "Persona-mania" is referring to the recent spurt of games; in which case, he'd be right.

Well, Persona games, movies, anime, stage musical--Thought they'd practically forgotten about the SMT series by now, and considered them just "working drafts" for the Persona game mechanics.
