Well I suppose they can't look forward.

This trailer is fantastic. It’s cool that Kojima decided to direct it. Can't wait to get my hands on the game once it comes out.

"It’s cool that Kojima decided to direct it." Kojima? Don't you mean its cool Konami decided to let him direct it? |

I'm surprised they let him direct it at all seeing how they took his name off of the game cover. |

I'm under moral obligation to not have the words "cool" and "Konami" ever again on the same sentence. |

well when you have video game stores attaching "A Hideo Kojima" sticker and posters around the game without their permission they can't very well say "fudge you we are making the final trailer for the last metal gear you'll work on". Don't even know how Konami are gonna survive this well deserved wave of hate |

Naked Snake's/Big Boss' face gets messed-up during the game, ha? Near the end of his Transformation Walk (02:48 mark), practically all his face has burned off... And I'm still not sure on how I feel about Kiefer Sutherland replacing David Hayter.

Aside the fact that Solid Snake burns him in Metal Gear 1... or 2, it's just a symbolism on how he's turning into someone like Skull face. Or, how the people will see him as. Besides, his face is already messed up. |

That happens in Metal Gear, but I remember that Kojima Hideo often said in interviews that he don't mind retcons as long as it lets him present the best story & experience possible, such as here or here. |

Nerd culture puts too much emphasis on continuity anyway. The Zelda timeline is the most obvious example of this. |

Man, I have spent a lot of time with Kojima, and I don't mind spending some more.
No, storytelling puts too much emphasis on continuity. If you don't want to cross your T's and dot your I's, you are welcome to, but if you give us a story that's supposed to fit like a puzzle, then you need to give us pieces that fit. |

Umm...I think that first interview is a fake though the second one seems legit. Though to fair this really isn't a surprise, MGS4 had quite a few retcons and inconsistencies and so did Peacewalker with its AI controlled mechs
Except most of the Zelda games were originally meant to be stand alone. The multiple timeline theory was really just a fan theory until Nintendo decided to make an official timeline much later. With the exception of a few entries, the Metal Gear games were always meant to be part of a single continuity. |

I am of the mind that the Kojima games exist in a "Hideo-verse" which ends up tying most if not all the games he has put his hands on together and the explanation for the connection is "time travel" for the schizo tech that ends up in the Metal Gear portions.

I hope it leads into Metal Gear {MSX}, full circle.

Honestly, I wouldn't put it past Kojima to do something like that. It would certainly explain why some of the technology in Peace Walker and Phantom Pain looks more advanced than the tech in MGS 1, 2 , and IV |
