A LONG time ago, I thought about this. I had 4 names in mind if I had a son. Heero, Yugi, Tai, and Takashi. Im sure you can guess where the 1st 3 came from. lol

Wait. The country of Japan decided to have children again ?
Let´s see. The winner Asuna is a real name and Ichigo should be the worst charted and even that one is ok. The parents/"fans" who i really don´t get (non book reader i guess) are who started to name their daughters Khaleesi. That isn´t a name but a title!
My name is Grigoij btw. as all Russians are related to Rasputin. Or so media tells me.

Eli and Maki from Love Live barely made it into the poll.
I think they're wonderful names.

Congratulations, Marcos---. That name was like Monty Python's election sketch but applied to weeaboos instead of silly politicians. It deserves a round of applause, followed by a reread.

It's been an androgynous name since at least the 90s. An English equivalent might be Hayden.

well they do sound like they would be short for something else so maybe thats why they were rated low.

(Er, it's a Gintama reference, I think?)

Wow, just for fun, I've actually put some thought into this in the past. It's much more difficult that I imagined because:
- I don't have a Japanese surname, there are actually very few names that sound good with it.
- One has to think about how many horrible puns and homophones that name can conjure up to prevent any possible bullying.
- The meaning and significance of the name and it's relation to the character must be good.
So, a couple the names that I actually am very partial to is Miyuki from Lucky Star (yes, not Konata) or Sakura from CCS. They are both kind, intelligent girls who are an inspiration to those around them and seek to affect change in a positive manner - qualities that I would like my child to have. Of course, this is going to be a decision that I can't make alone. As for guy names... well, I'm still working on those. Takeru or Daisuke sound pretty good (both Digimon characters).
Interestingly enough, my cousins were given Japanese names and their parents aren't even that big fans of Japanese stuff. (^.^;)

There are some male Harukas. That's one of the reason why Sailor Moon's Haruka was mistaken as a guy to begin with.

Coincidentally I was just thinking about this today. Asuna was my top pick as well, though I also like the name Erza
