I think I'll just wait for the dub. There's no point in buying something this expensive when the US release with the dub will be cheaper.

Directly importing through sites like cdjapan is still cheaper then doing it through AniplexUSA. you dont get the translated booklet but most people won't care for that.

Let the bitching about Aniplex prices begin!!!
*looks around*
Damn.... late again.
As for the show... DAMN! Just so freaking awesome.
Lancer is my favorite characters after he almost backhanded Shinji through a wall.

Good thing people have more than one kidney. Having two might not help with the arm and the leg though...

Can't wait for the dub. Any idea when they're going to announce it?

Comments about limbs and internal organs in a two-sentence post... Impressive. If you had decided to add another line I would assume it'd be something about Aniplex USA needing to adopt Funi/Sentai prices.
The UBW box sets are hella sweet though. The first set sold quite well too, and i've seen plenty of international customers .

It is unfair to criticize AoA for the price of a Japanese import. Save the complaining for the eventual $130 domestic set.

It's an import from Japan with a translation booklet for the US market. I don't think there any problem with it or it's pricing for what it is. Not my cup of green tea, but hey it's right up SouthPacific's alley.
It only becomes an issue when when no offering is made that matches up with the US market. At this point that hasn't happened yet.
AoA doesn't have to price match Funi or Sentai, I'd be happy if they matched NISA, then a lot of this rancor between fans ( who otherwise would be talking about the show itself ) would go away.

i will just import it myself. No need to use Aniplex USA. Other import company is cheaper.

I wouldn't pay that for UBW. Even if it's a gorgeous set I don't like the show that much. So no, it's not up my alley, thank you very much.

AKA not AoA sets like KLK/SAO etc, even if they're part of the US market, right? Or am I mistaken on this one?

The difference between BD sets from NISA and Sentai are what, $5?

Quote: | Preorders will begin in North, Central, and South America on Tuesday. Similar to the first set, the second set's suggested retail price is US$498.98, but the official FatestaynightUSA.com website is listing the set for US$398.98. |
Meanwhile, at cdjapan;
Quote: | 35000yen
(37800yen Tax incl. in Japan)
US$ 287.99
|
Even here in Finland with added 25% Custom duty and shipping, it would probably fall below the lower of AoA's price alternatives. Plus, while cdjapan might not get the booklet, theirs do add a cushion cover... And unless I read wrong in my searches, this box might fall under duty free media in US?
Not in the market for this, not that interested in the franchise, aside from the visual novels. However if I was, I doubt AoA would be my first choice, based on the above...

I honestly find it more amusing in the fact that there are people defending AoA's insane prices, almost five hundred dollars for a 13 episode anime set that isn't even dubbed and comes with an audio drama and special booklet with staff interviews ALL IN JAPANESE with a translation book thats only available through AoA's website and even then still at over four hundred dollars before shipping you suckers must be pretty well off because last I checked Five hundred dollars is more then enough to cover two months rent plus amenities at my apartment, every time I see AoA's prices for their sets a part of me dies a little on the inside as an anime fan, as a collector, and as a smart shopper

NISA prices would be godly. I don't care for imports but I understand why they are priced that much. What I don't understand is why AoA's domestic release is also extremely pricey.
