Why not leave it on? This should of been a psychical demo released in the magazine.

Could be a rights issue, perhaps some of the game code itself will resurface elsewhere under a different name. Anyway it seems a thoroughly nasty little piece of business.

I'm guessing that the company decided it wasn't worth it to maintain a demo for a game they are never going to finish. The things that are available to re-download on PSN are typically things that people actually paid for, os it makes sense to keep those available. There isn't much incentive to maintain something that has never brought in any money.

Just shows, if you don't have it on your hard drive, it can disappear at anytime.

What if the HDD dies? Nothing lasts forever.

This is VERY strange, historically if you 'own' a digital product and it gets delisted you can still download it forever. This is true almost universally.

My only guess is that because PT is considered a 'DEMO' the same rules don't apply. As I do know demos can disappear regardless of having it on your account (see from my experience, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on 3DS eShop)

Its still a massive level of Konami dickishness.

That is what back-up drives are for. Storage is so affordable now. Not to mention that you always can burn things to DVD if you want too.

Videos and Games on the Network can be taken away for a variety of reasons beyond your control.

I'm sure that is the reason. If anybody complains, Konami can basically say, "You didn't pay for it, so what's your beef?" Without some money being spent, I doubt if Konami feels any sense of obligation to maintain a demo for a game they canceled already.

That may just be a Nintendo thing. On PSN, I can still download anything I've previously DL'd, including old demos that are no longer up on the store. Few companies bother going the extra mile to completely remove anything from the servers.

So this was either a mistake on SCEA's part (since it can still be DL'd in Europe), or Konami really is making an effort to scrub their hands of the biggest official acknowledgment of Silent Hills.

@doubleO7
More than likely, its Konami being Konami, going the extra mile, as you said, to get rid of it, in any way. (I've even read replies from other forums/users thinking that they might even patch the demo or something to make it unplayable. But its just a thought they said.)

Anyways, this isn't the first time something gets removed and even cannot DL it from your DL list (as its removed from your DL list completely and cannot re-DL again ever). This also happened to some PS1 digital titles from MonkeyPawGames that were released a while back too (Like Magical Drop F and maybe some others).

You shouldn't delete anything unless you are sure you are not going to use or play it ever again. It really is too bad though that this project got cancelled, I was really forward to seeing Norman Reedus in Silent Hills.
