I'm completely happy with artists using or not using Twitter but do appreciate having at least a management or record label presence on Twitter as was reported being maintained in this article - it makes for the easiest way to keep up with (most) Japanese artists that one likes without having to visit multiple web sites.

Many Japanese artists do take the time to reply to fan tweets or re-tweet information or URL's of reviews that fans send.

Going from Twitter to a more conventional blog presents the celebrity with an interesting question: Do they have a thought or opinion that's worth expressing with more than 140 characters? Let's find out.

If they really wanted to express themselves, they might want to. Like, if they are talking about a family issue, they might want to to express as much as possible.
