Does it really come as a surprise that the arms become useless and that wearing it like that would most likely hurt? Let's not get into how, depending on the person, wearing it too tight could even damage your blood circulation.
It's almost as if the people who make this kind of trashy otaku anime have never even met a real woman...
Oh wait

Ehhhhh.....
Hmmmmm...........
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Wow....you kidding me right? I am beyond speechless right now.
Good effort though, although I doubt the character designer put THAT much thought into it to begin with

I only watched about five minutes of this show but the very first thing I noticed was this string around her arms. I know anime clothing gets a bit unreasonable sometimes but I couldn't bring myself to accept that that was comfortable or practical in any way.

Honestly now I'm just wondering how much my boobs weigh. Is that something you need to know?

Lol, I've seen the whole episode without noticing the string, at least not what it's meant to be for. Thought it's just there for an unlikely decoration (I mean, they're everywhere in anime costume).
Anyway, might as well marked it as NSFW-ish.

This question is plaguing me now. Like, how do you even know? Do you put your boobs on a scale or something? How does that even work? Now I won't be able to sleep O_O

I'm thinking the same thing, the boobs are holding themselves up because IT'S ANIME and that's how shit's done.

One of the biggest flaws I see some designers do is try to make things practical rather than looking good. If you want realism, don't look to fictional media for it. A good design trumps any argument of practicality.

ANN, the site that brings you the LATEST breast-holding techniques and fads
Great article, I loved it way more than I should've.

I think these people are missing the point. Where does it say in the anime that her ribbon is there to lift her breasts up? I don't remember that part. My impression was that the ribbon only interacted with her breasts when it shifted out of its default position.
I just saw it as a fashion choice. And of course it would limit your freedom of movement, but plenty of fashionable clothing restricts your movement. I hear that some people even wear heels that are several inches higher than orthopedically necessary!
I have a hard time imagining anyone wearing it in such a way that it would hurt circulation though. Hestia certainly doesn't. If it were tight enough to hurt circulation then you couldn't even move your arms from your side (or tie and untie it yourself).

Well, assuming they're reasonably large, you could probably put them on a scale, although there might be some natural tension there that would skew the results. I imagine the only foolproof method would be to lay face down in a rig that would carry your full body weight, and then be lowered onto a scale so that the full weight of the breast were on it without placing any of your body weight on it, but then maybe the reulsive force from the body would apply. Hard to say.

Oh dear merciful heavens, this is fantastic. I needed a great laugh tonight and it was either this or yelling, "OH YES, THEY'RE EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD!" a few times. Either would have done, but this had the added benefit of confirming the incredibly obvious proposition that strings are not a functional substitute for a bra. I mean, I was pretty damned sure, but sometimes boobs surprise you.
It also helped the series beat my expectations, because I did not think that this show would ever in any way entertain me, even indirectly.
And that's before the Anime Boobs Defense Force deployed its rapid response team to fight women's ignorance about how those things hanging off of their chests work.

You solved the problem right there. Give the boy his blue nylon ribbon and Pizza Hut coupons.
Come on, seriously? I mean, cool story bro, but you have to know that you're being pretty bullshit right now.

It's good to know that we've got top men working on this. TOP MEN, people!

Well, there is apparently some method because it's apparently medically important to know breast weight sometimes. Maybe only if they're large enough to cause back issues.
