Im not sure if anyone talked about it here but on you tube i found footage of a offline meeting from 2chan to have a giant haruhi dance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okeq0uuldy0

Too bad the cops came and everyone scrambled. They actually done a pretty good job though. Plus they have balls to do it in public on a street spontaneously.

I saw that before, it was random that they did it on the street. They were pretty good dancers too.

Yeah especially the guy in the blue jumpsuit.

I would like to see that happen here randomly some day. Maybe at Time Square so the dance can be shown on the big screen. Smile

Well it was sorta disrupting the public. The police were just doing their job, but man when they ran away that was HILARIOUS! I'll definetely admit though that they were all really good and in sync.

I agree, to do this sort of thing at a convention is all right, but in the practical world, I think this sort of thing is... just weird to say the least. Not to mention hecklers would probably try and disrupt the whole thing.

Looks like fun. I'm not a dancer myself but I would have enjoyed seeing it. Well, except maybe if I was sipping a cup of coffee at Mr. Donut (not a bad place for coffee BTW, at least insofar as Japan is concerned) after being rushed by zillions of Japanese anime fans trying to avoid a couple rather docile looking police officers. Don't get me wrong, practical people are nice and they help keep the world running and all, but sometimes you need a few crazies mixed in to really get the most out of life. This kind of pseudo-spontaneous gatering can also occur in the US from what I've read, but is typically not related to anime.

What's with the cut-n-paste job? Give ANN a little credit, will ya? Wink

I meant on a random day on any given date on any given time at any location as long as it's able to hold excessive amounts of Haruhi fans, not just when a certain anime related event occurs. Just think, a whole nation dancing the Hare Hare Yukai dance, truly the influence of Haruhiism. Confused

Oh I have seen this before when I was looking for the dance. The funniest part is seeing other people's cell phones out and then recording it Anime hyper

I remember that very well, that was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. Me and some friends of mine met this one Japanese group while at AX, and when I told them about the video one of them said that they were a part of that group, while another said that he was recording the whole ordeal. After the police came they went their own separate ways.

Well, the cops didn't seem too upset about it at least. They weren't shouting or waving their arms/blunt instruments.
