Those shelving units are pretty neat. They would work well in my room, since I could just put them directly above my bed too.

The Familiar of Zero didn't get good for me till The Familiar of Zero: Rondo of Princesses (season three) and even than it was only okay at best.

I really love how those shelves look and how they seem to just protrude out from the wall. It's a really nice looking effect.

This last season of Genshiken rather interesting, I didn't find myself having as many opportunities to think, "Oh, that's so true" or to laugh at myself when the jokes hit close to home like before, but I appreciated the chance to learn a bit about a subset of the fandom that I'm not that familiar with.
The old cast members show up about as much as would be appropriate for a show about a school-based club, so their presence is fun without overstaying its welcome. Plus, having closure on Madarame felt really good. He was always my favorite, so it was nice to see him reach a conclusion as a character. As far as the references go, I have to say that the Princess Jellyfish cosplay was my favorite. |

Fairy Tail (Episodes #165-#175):
The show's last episodes were a showcase for some the production's better efforts, and as well as a tease for a continuation (which did came, retrospectively). Takanashi Yasuharu's music fits the scenes very well and are always a pleasure to listen to. The animation had a quite-high quality to it (I don't recall any off-models or sloppy inbetweening), and the tournament's events (both in the Arena and outside of it) progressed in a solid pace. Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi: The overall story is about espionage and war between different states; not much different than, say, period dramas or shows about the Sengoku Jidai (the Warring States period). The characters are what you've come to know from the first show, not much new developments in that area. The 'Harem King' status of Saito, our dear MC-kun, continues to be solidified even despite (or because?) his somewhat social-awkwardness and 'Good Boy' persona (but nowhere close to Yūki Rito level  ).
The animation is mediocre or somewhat above - not too impressive and a bit forgettable, but not making the viewer to stop watching either. Mitsumune Shinkichi's musical score helps to build the mood for most scene quite nicely, but like the plot it is not especially memorable score. Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Megami-Hen: Ahh, yes. Our favorite otaku who is quite possibly the only MC to date (that I know of) that successfully managed to take his dating-sims, galge VN knowledge and translate it to practical methods (in the anime, at least. Not tested in real life... yet ) of hooking up not just with girls, but with the desired/predetermined girls.
Shimono Hiro's voice work continues to bring Keima's character to life. The other sound-related departments are also doing their job quite well, with the OP being a pleasurable way to start the episodes. The plot, however, lacked quite a bit. New characters were suddenly introduced (at least from the perspective of those who only watch the animated version), such as spoiler[Kujō Tukiyo] (the show literally gave a short, 1-minute flashback to introduce her for the first time to the anime viewers as though she was previously introduced). If one has read the manga prior to watching the show, though, they might be able to overlook that part, or at least it will have smaller effect on them (as one who didn't read the manga, it was quite annoying). Out of those three, my personal scale is: Fairy Tail (Episodes #165-#175) -> Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Megami-Hen -> Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi Last edited by Hameyadea on Mon Mar 09, 2015 6:23 pm; edited 1 time in total |

it kidn of became a category by itself along with shakugan no shana, scarlet something , dragonar academyas well as several other series with a useless mc who later becomes useful, a strong tsundere female lead usually voiced by rie kugimiya and a semi-harem setup that is not quite a real harem. |

I watched all of Hiiro no Kakera. Good for me, right?
For 90% of the show, the guardians got their asses kicked, and Tamaki did NOTHING. It was actually amusing how much more powerful Logos was. They literally just walked up to the artifacts and took them, while swatting down the guardians when they got up again. Here's the kicker: it turns out to be justified. The guardians had no way to beat Logos from the very start, because spoiler[ they read the prophesy wrong. They thought that the guardians got their powers in order to protect the princess until she awakens completely. Actually, it said that the guardians will be GRANTED their full powers WHEN the princess completely awakens. OOOPS. Plus, one guy from Logos wasn't actually from Logos, he was way above.] |

One would think that wall would be better served with a large 56" HD TV, but at least he is able to display his library, most of mine is boxed up.

Nice custom shelves. I wasn't expecting them to be suspended on the wall, but it's a nice look. I'm curious though, Fathergoat, did you turn most of the box sets around for the photos or do you normally keep them spine side in to get to the individual volumes easier?

I've seen in these Shelf Life pictures over the years so many collectors putting the nice chipboard slipcases with the spine inward. Why would you do that?? What was the purpose of buying them if no one sees them? That really bugs me. Most all of mine are lined up in a row and it's a great look.

While I would never tell another how to maintain or display their collection I do agree with you that it does take away part of the display value. Those artboxes back in the day were often very well done artistically. The spines in particular. Having them displayed spine inward takes away part of that display. Now granted if you wanted quicker access to the dvds themselves the spine inward would prohibit that some. I found in most cases though the dvds fit well enough into the box I had to pick the box up and tilt it to get them out to begin with. While it doesn't "bug me" per se I do wonder why many would choose to not display the full artistic merit of the artboxes. Especially since they did cost more. |

Hiiro no Kakera was honestly one of the most boring things I've ever watched. I think I only sat through it all because I thought "maybe this week they'll actually do something?" Nope
Recommended as an insomnia cure, but nothing else.

Huh, did not realise that the newest Familiar of Zero and TWGOK were coming out so soon in the States. And here I am, waiting to see if Hanabee and Madman (respectively) are going to announce licences for these seasons.
If they don't soon, I'll just import. Oh, and Genshiken. Have heard some good things, and it's great to see that the newest season seems to be a good one too. Will have to get around to watching this series for myself. Have yet to view a single episode. |

I too watched every episode of Hiiro no Kakera. I thought that season 2 was a huge improvement over season 1 and I'm actually going to buy the BD-set because of it. I know, I know, I'm cracked in the head.
@Basroil: I never really got that either. Maybe someone that displays them with the spine facing inwards can explain why they do that. |
