Why? If Oda is sick, get well.

I still need to catch up with this, the current arc is good, but it is dragging on way to long.

Does this really merit much mention unless Oda specifically is sick?
These one week breaks are entirely commonplace.

I disagree. While the Dressrosa Arc is quite long (at over 80 chapters, it is the longest One Piece Arc to date), it doesn't feel too long, since all the characters and fights feel fluid and are at a good pace. And that's the main point.

My friend was right.
The Anime is catching up to the manga, that's why each episode is being stretched out too much..
Give or take
23 minutes episode OP and ED+ Previously on you have about 17 minutes + filler

I don't know, I can understand how someone can think that this arc is dragging. It does feel long (and apparently is long as mentioned) to me. It's hard to judge though when you're reading it week to week. Is it really dragging or is it just that having to wait a week between chapters really drags it out? Maybe parts wouldn't feel as slow when read together in a complete volume. Or it could be worse...

While I don't really read either series, at least Oda isn't pulling a Hiatus x Hiatus.

I'll just pop in and say this whole series seems dawn out.

He isn't sick! This is just another normal pause.
That said, the Dressrosa arc is awesome in my opinion (it could even become my most favourite one), but of course it's much better when you read the chapters all together in the actual volumes.
I read scanlations (otherwise all the spoilers across the internet would spoil the story to me), but also collect the Italian official releases, and reading them so far has been a blast (we're up to volume 74)!
Please also consider that Oda corrects drawing errors and sometimes even refines dialogues and texts in general in the volumes, so I highly suggest you to buy them.

Maybe research? It's not strange for Oda to take a week and do some research on the stuff he'll need to draw for future chapters.

I'm not so sure that this needs to be reported every time a break occurs.
Oda really loaded this arc with characters and some deep backstories to the extent that it has become the longest arc in the series. Also seeing how the story has been playing out, it wouldn't surprise me at all when some of the later arcs involving Yonko will be even longer than this one.

Not to mention the other Worst Generation members. Trafalgar Law will probably be one of the most complex as he's extremely popular, but all of the other ones have been really hyped up too.
But yeah, it's no big deal Oda's taking a week-long break. He takes one about once every one or two months. It's good for him because he works so hard.
As for Dressrosa's length, it is definitely longer than I feel it needs to be, but at the same time, it's still really fast-paced because there's so much that happens in it. One Piece is definitely better read in bursts. I read the Enies Lobby stuff and the Paramount War stuff in bursts, and they didn't feel like they dragged on at all.
