Glad to hear she's safe! Especially with all the transgender bullying and death that have occurred lately, its nice to have a story with a happy ending.

It not hard to imagine what happened...the USA..probably went to party with friends, alcohol..."stimulants"...and the like, it was a long wild party most likely.

I'm so happy for her and her loved ones. So many stories like this have an unhappy ending.

I hope that whatever caused Ashley to "disappear" will trouble her no more. Peace.

A friend of mine went to this con and they apparently had a massive blizzard that snowed people in at the con, so, um, yeah. I'm just going to assume that's what happened here, and the parents had a meltdown for no real reason.

To be fair, the girl probably should have called home about it, but eh, people make mistakes. Of course, we don't know the whole story here - I'm not gonna pretend that I do - but yeah, it sounds like this was blown way too far out of proportion in this particular case. Especially considering that the convention WASN'T EVEN OVER when they reported her "missing".

From the report:

But police say her disappearance was of her own choosing - that she had planned to take off to meet someone. They say she also admitted to them that she knew they were looking for her, but chose not to let anyone know that she was okay.

Confused

So it was just some degenerate teenager going through their rebellious phase? Geez, and here I was thinking it was a serious issue about discrimination against minorities.

I mean, I'm relieved she's okay because no one deserves to be beaten to death and left to die in a gutter but at the same time I feel kind of annoyed that she's gotten all these people worked up for nothing.

So I live in Columbus and work at a hotel located across from the convention center. There was no blizzard in Columbus, it snowed over night on Saturday but was clear by the morning. The concern was by those guests that drove in from other states that wanted to drive home earlier while the conditions were still safe so a few of the attendees decided to check out early. The con and the attendees overall were a great crowd and very nice. It was nice to see and talk to a ton of anime fans which is something I don't do on a regular basis.

Also I don't think it's an overreaction when your child is missing in a city that you don't live in.

Yeah definitely no blizzard... a dusting of snow overnight Saturday, no issues what-so-ever leaving on Sunday to make the 3.5 hour drive home.
