While I can handle cousin romances more because they are not as (AFAIK) closely related in the sense that they are not immediate family fembers, shows with step-siblings are a turn off for me because the step-siblings are related (by marriage) to a more immediate family member. That's why I'll pass on this.

By a superficial, man-made definition. Heck, step-siblings by marriage are further apart than first-, second- and sometimes even third-cousins. Genetics-wise they aren't related, so everything is A.O.Kay in my book.

Actually, I'm not really a fan of even cousin romances either. These tropes I don't like and that's why I pass on such series. We have different tastes/preferences for what we like/don't like.

But what we're saying is you're having the wrong impressions of this anime. No they are not related in ANY way. Not cousins, step-sibblings, etc.
