I thought Cinedigm would be releasing that one on home video here. I hope Uni can handle anime.

I thought Cinedigm would release it too, like they did with Poppy Hill. I don't really have a problem with it, but it will only make my Ghibli collection even more inconsistent in terms of packaging. I wish the releases were more consistent like they are in other territories. I've got a bunch from Disney, one from Sentai, another from Cinedigm, it's all just very unappealing in regard to my OCD like obsession with organization.
I already bought the Japanese copy, but I'll gladly double dip for this film.

I'm not from the US but I hope Universal picks up Only Yesterday if this goes well.

I've been asking for a US release of Only Yesterday for years. If anyone would get it, I think it'd be GKIDS.

I guess some of the technical details are not locked down yet - I see only French subtitles. Hopefully English subs will be included. Shades of the old Disney/Mononoke fights all over again...

I can't wait, but more than likely they'll be screening this at the NYICFF next year. So if they do, I'll be catching it on the big screen. Not to mention they'll probably have copies on hand to sell since the festival will be late Feb. Looking forward to this.

GKIDS released both Poppy Hill and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya. Cinedigm was our sub-distributor on Poppy Hill, Universal will be our sub-distributor on Princess Kaguya. Apart from some different logos on the back, and a slightly different disc design, the pakaging will look the same as our line of releases no matter who distributes to stores on our behalf.
This info leaked, so we'll all just have to wait for the official release to go out early next week to see what else is up with it... I can confirm there are both English dubtitles and subtitles, as well as French audio and French subtitles. (And Japanese and English audio, naturally.)
