Great news to adapt the entire manga. This will probably be like a longer version of the special though. Still excited for next summer~

I hear a (non live-action) Mushishi movie?
Yup, Mushishi movie. Something I never expected, something I'll deeply enjoy. |

I'm being spoiled. I sure was excited when they decided to make a new season of mushishi, now there are all these special episodes and now a movie. No gripes from here.

Have they announced whether the Next Chapter is going to be released on home video over here or not? I can't remember reading any thing about it. Even if it does get released I doubt they'll dub it with the same voice actors that the first season had. If they dub it at all.

I know right! I never even expected a second season, but all of this just keeps me in a constant good mood. That stuff like this is able to get made and actually be fairly successful is always heartening(?). I'm definitely thrilled with a movie, in particular. My only gripe with the normal episodes is their length. I enjoy having more time to flesh out the story. That's what I loved most about the specials too.
As far as being released stateside, I have no idea, but I am dying to get some word on it. I don't know if they are waiting for all of the JP BDs to come out or what, but it would be nice to get some kind of confirmation taht AoA is doing something with it. Hopefully a box set, rather than singles. It is getting a dub in Australia, according to an official listing I was linked to a couple of months ago, so it will have a dub. Not sure whether or not it'll be by the same VAs, but it isn't going to be Funi working on it, so who knows... |

What news ! The anime is going out in style. So my vote for anime movie of 2015 is probably a lock unless GitS Arise shows some new tricks.

Sad that I'll have to wait a little longer for one of my favorite Mushishi stories, but really happy about the news otherwise! I hope CR streams it as well, like it did with the specials.

You got a source for that? I couldn't find anything about an Arise movie on ANN or a Google search. As for the Mushi-shi movie, I hope it gets streamed on Crunchyroll or Hulu when it comes out in the US. I've been enjoying Mushi-shi: The Next Chapter on Crunchyroll so I want to see this, but I'm not paying Aniplex's ridiculous prices to check it out. Edit: Nevermind, I found the news article about the Arise movie. |

Much like the "Path of Thorns" two-parter was supposed to be the show's midseason finale in June but ended up airing as a TV special in August instead, I suspect these were supposed to be the last two episodes of the show, but because they couldn't be completed in time for broadcast, they're getting a theatrical release next year.
That would explain why the sixth and final volume of the BD/DVD release has yet to be solicited. It should include the two most recent episodes ("Mud Grass" and "Tree of Eternity") plus the "Bell Droplets" two-parter. |
