There was this one episode, that I cannot remember the name of, where Holland is using what I think may be a pay phone and he says something about making phone calls being something only women did. I need to know the name of that episode or just the quote because it made me laugh so hard. It wasn't because I thought it was a joke or anything, it was just so absurd. I honestly could not tell if he was being serious or not. I missed most of that episode because I could not stop laughing.
So, I really just need to know the name of the episode or if someone remembers that quote and could tell it to me, I would greatly appreciate it.

well, I've watched all 7 dvds (30 episodes) that have been released so far and I dont think it was in any of those, so that should narrow your search a bit.

Thanks for the help. I only have the first four DVDs and I didn't see it in any of those. I did look around on the internet but didn't have much luck. I think the episode may have had parts about Talho and Holland's relationship.
Or not, I don't really remember what happened it that episode.

Could it have been when Holland was dating Rentin's sister?
Found it.. episode 36, "Fantasia". The actual quote is "Until then, I thought that making phone calls was something women were supposed to do."
Some of the other scenes in this episode include Norb lying on the couch eating pizza and Eureka trying to apply makeup.

You can't really judge anime by the criticism of others, you'll have to see it with your own eyes. But really it's a must see

Oh. My. God. I didn't think I would ever find that quote, and then you found it. Thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem, Zivil.
I really wanted to find it because I thought it was so funny. When I saw it I could not stop laughing. Has anyone ever thought that? That making phone calls was something women were suppposed to do? Or that men don't really make phone calls? When I heard him say it, I thought that that was the most absurd thing I ever heard in an anime. Until I heard someone on Trinity Blood ask "Are you the pope?", but that's besides the point.
What Holland said was not funny in and of itself. It might not be very funny if you just read it out of context, but it was just so unexpected when I saw it and it was just so stupidly funny. Did anyone else think it was funny?

You are quite welcome... actually when I read your thread, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I knew I had seen that scene (smirk), but I was thrown for a bit about it being between Holland an Talho. And it just happened to be on the first disk I checked... just lucky.

It actually kind of surprised me at how blatantly sexist the statement was. I remember thinking about the writers and wondering if Japanese men really think this way. After re-watching the scene though, I'm choosing to think it was more just Holland's personality showing through. i.e. God's gift to women...

Space Pirate Kid - The animation was beautiful. The music was at times superbly matched with the scene (i.e. the first time Renton went reffing (surfing) with the skyfish).
There were some episodes that were a bit melodramatic for my taste, but and some that were right on target and even made me laugh out loud or a bit sniffley. There were even some episodes that were a little bit disturbing and stayed with me through the week between airings (I saw it on AS). The characters are flawed which, to me, gave them more depth and made them more "human".
And there is much more to it than "surfing and stuff". In fact, the surfing kind of took a back seat in the story after a bit. I'll agree with LuckySleven in that only you can judge whether or not you will like it.

i forgot which episode but it is definately the one that "young" holland is calling diane which is renton elder sister.
by any way. Eureka is quite an interesting anime. U can see that given by the ANN ratings that it voted by those that have seen it. for me its a pretty good epic anime, probably one of the better ones even if its not the best.
the surf board might be a bit misleading but the first episode is quite catchy already. its an anime thats not suppose to be missed.

To me one of the funniest things about Eureka Seven was when we finally got to see what Diane looked like.

Yeah, they keep *not* showing her face and when they finally do I'm like, "Okay, so what's so special about it?"
