Damn. I love Ayres, but damn. I'll see how it goes though.

Edit: I don't know. I've been thinking about it this past hour and the idea is sorta growing on me. Still I save my judgement until it's out. I'll still support this no matter who they cast. I just want something Free! related in my house haha Smile

I literally booed at my computer screen when I read the headline.

Christ Funi, is this the price we have to pay for J Michael Tatum as Rei? That choice was absolutely perfect on so many levels but this... this is not good. In fact, this is very, very bad.

You know, I was just watching the Clannad dub earlier today. Not as bad as I remember it being. Well, except for Greg Ayres who is absolutely atrocious and irritating as Sunohara making a delinquent sound like a goofy nerd.

When he's cast right Greg Ayres is good. I could not imagine anyone else playing Koyuki in Beck. When he's miscast he's awful. Take Masato in Little Busters for example. While casting him as Nagisa is not nearly as misguided as the latter example, it feels like the same sort of dumb casting decision only Sentai would make.

I retract my previous statement in the Rei announcement thread. I can wait for this.

I was really excited about this when Rei was announced, but I can already hear Greg Ayres' Nagisa in my head. Not too excited about that.

I agree with the above sentiment of casting Greg Ayres for the right roles.

I'm actually laughing! Very Happy The next announcement will be Vic Mignogna as Makoto if the casting continues like this.

I had thought about Greg Ayres being cast as Nagisa but I didn't think it would really happen. I'm okay with it but a little nervous. It could go very wrong.

Whereas I can't really see Tatum as Rei (I only know him in his roles where he has his voice reverberating in this deep godlike baritone which doesn't suite Rei), I can totally see Ayres as Nagisa. I couldn't really pin who would be good to play Nagisa but this announcement does make me happy.

I'm not sure why the majority is disappointed. I think Greg Ayres' voice fits Nagisa pretty well.

People hate on Greg in general. Even though he sounds pretty much the same as the Japanese VA, people won't be OK with it.

Vic Mignogna actually said at his Anime Expo panel that he's interested in being in the Free dub so there's a chance.

So far I've been right on my predictions, and I'm really hoping that the Ouran cast reunites for this.

I personally would have preferred Luci Christian, but I can understand why they wanted to stay true to the Japanese and cast real boys for the main five. And if they were gonna use a guy, Greg Ayres is the best person I can think of.
