Hey all, I'm looking for a new anime to get into. I'm more of the action anime person, so I'm looking for a new action/fantasy anime to start. Heres what I have so far to avoid repeat suggestions

-Records of Lodoss Wars: TV
-Berserk
-X
-Noir
-Trigun
-Samurai Deeper Kyo
-Escaflowne
-Hellsing
-Akira
-Rurouni Kenshin
-outlaw Star
-Cowboy Bebop
-.Hack//sign
-Blue Gender
-Witchunter Robin
-Vampire Hunter D & BL

I'm not too big on the whole Gundam series, I've tired a few I'm not too big. I think I'm gonna get L/R tomorrow, other than that however, I'm at a loss. I've also already seen Evangelion, so I fear I'm running out of good anime's to watch. I also dont object to the occasional drams, as I have v.1 of Kare Kano. So can anyone suggest anything? Thanks!

I doubt if you're running out of good anime to watch. There's a lot of it out there. I would recommend going to the Rating Stats page and seeing what the top 10 or top 50 anime are. I think you'll get a pretty good idea of what's popular...with the ANN readers, at least.

Inuyasha has great action in it but it kinda starts off slow but eventually gets awarding soon enough. YuYu Hakusho the ghost files is another action anime I recommend but its takes place in the present more or less. Also if you like really lengthy long-winded anime series then anything made by Akira T. the author of DB,DBZ,or DBGT(I think he also made Naruto and GT but I'm NOT 100% sure on that)and Naruto, etc. that should keep you busy for awhile.

Toriyama had nothing to do with either DBGT or Naruto.

Naruto is based on the manga by Masashi Kishimoto, Outlaw Star was created by Takehiko Ito, and Dragon Ball Great Trash (er, GT), wasn't exactly the creation of any one person specifically, if I remember. It was just some corporate hellspawn devised to milk more money out of the Dragon Ball franchise once Toriyama had completed it.

And sadly, Outlaw Star will not be appearing on Cartoon Network anytime soon, as CN let the broadcasting rights expire. I wouldn't want their version on Adult Swim anyway, since it'd still be the heavily edited one (which would just not fit into AS).

OK, you can try:

- Full Metal Alchemist
(in my opinion the manga is a lot better but the anime is quite good. Its not something you will remember to the rest of your life but its got action)
- Gungrave
(The game sucked and the anime also sucks but - it has action!)
- Wolfs Rain
(one of the best anime there is. It was made by the guys responsible for Cowboy Bebop. The chara design is brilliant and the plot is amazing. Again - lots of action in an extremly good plot/chara cover)
- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
(Very good. I like the russian intro. SF action)
- Full Metal Panic
(I think the title says it all Razz - action)

Well, if you don't have the (Trust and Betrayal) Kenshin OAVs go buy those ^^

Otherwise I'd consider Big-O, which is an excellent show with the first 13 episodes available for around $45.

If you want a more action oriented show than Big-O you might like Full Metal Panic, which is a great show to watch (subbed.)

If you have a fast computer with a lot of room you might also want to check out Naruto. Its heavy action and a lot of comedy, based on a great manga. Sometimes they go overboard with recap, but its not too much of an annoyance.

In short you should: Download Naruto ep. 1, Watch trailers for Big-O and FMP and buy if interested, and watch the Kenshin OAVs as soon as possible.

Full Metal Panic is one of the best mixing mech action and comedy. All though my absolute favorite series is Martian Successor Nadesico, which is hilarious, and does a good job of combining comedy with mech action, and the occasional bits of drama.

Although plenty of people have listed FMP, I will point out it is lighter than most of the shows on the initial list. Same goes for Nadesico, although if you enjoy the goofier episodes of Trigun and Kenshin, check them out. I think Rahxephon is closer to the shows listed than FMP (more Kakoii less Kawaii), but you might want to hunt down the Rahxephon or FMP thread since I'd like to think you would enjoy at least on of the two.

If you can find a copy, I would suggest The Mysterious Cities of Gold. It is my favorite anime from the early 80's.

It is mainly about a Spanish navigator and 3 children searching for the hidden cities of gold. The navigator wants gold, Esteban wants to find his father, Tao wants to learn more about his ancestors (they built the cities), and Zia is looking for her father and following Esteban. This is the series at its most basic, but it is much more than this. It is 39 episodes long.

Regards,
Jason
