This sounds exactly like what happened to Gainax years ago.

Uh, please refresh my mind (a link to an article would suffice). Because I don't remember any financial incident involving Gainax. |

Yes they committed fraud. Conning the tax man is seldom good for you. |

Corporate tyranny cooking the books, not surprising, lets just hope the company doesn't close down and instead rid themselves of the executives (and any crooked accountants and other people in finance).

Conning the tax man is a fine art. This I know from experience. Mark Gosdin |

Or just a reaction to the incentives from what might be a Tax code that is predatory. Agreed that hopefully it won't kill the business since there are people that depend on it for a living that were completely innocent in regards to this incident. Beyond a certain point accountants & lower level executives are likely just doing what their superiors required them to do. I wouldn't get to anxious to see them hurt. Mark Gosdin |

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, here. Do you think you could give me some examples of what you're thinking of, things that you think the japanese government might plausibly be doing that you'd describe as "predatory". EDIT: > Beyond a certain point accountants & lower level executives are likely just doing what their superiors required them to do. Following orders? |

Predatory as a system that vexates people and businesses. For example too high a tax rate. Complicated tax documents. A system where if you're inspected you're assumed guilty by default and then you have to prove your innocence to the tax authorities (if you're audited by the IRS say your prayers man). You know, things like these ? |
