So is this like one of those rare mainline Final Fantasy game where there won't be playable female characters?

Visually impressive, but I wish they'd show more. This trailer is more like, ahem, fujoshi bait

Dunno... Aren't there the blonde princess and an unnamed female dragoon?

I sure hope there's going to be more than just four playable characters.

Well, I have a theory that Stella, the blond chick, will join the party.
On a related note, if this means we're going to get KHIII faster and FFXV already being so late in development, I'm not complaining. Rather have the guy behind "Type-0" directing than Toriyama.

Are you sure you don't mean "FF is not being held hostage by Nomura anymore"?
I have lost most of the faith I had in the series while this man was on duty. Can't says I'm excited about this game but I'll keep an eye on it.

The black haired female character is still uncounted for. The dragoon and the blonde one are still unknowns really.

Ugh, I really don't like what I've seen so far. I hate the whole road trip with your bros garbage already. I'm really disappointed in the lack of female playable characters, and I didn't have much faith in the game to begin with considering the disaster that was the XIII trlilogy.
I'm really starting to think the Final Fantasy series just isn't for me anymore. Maybe I should just stick with Tales and other smaller RPGs.

I might not get a PS4, but my god--the OST sounds wonderful. (well, this one track here) I'm loving the almost "waltz" like orchestration of the piece that plays in the trailer at the 1:05 mark)
I'll definitely want the soundtrack.

Not sure how I feel about this. I know a lot of people are pretty damn sick of Tetsuya Nomura as a character designer. I know I am. But as a director? I don't know. I never played Kingdom Hearts but I've certainly heard good things. At the very least I can stomach his visual style if he does a better job as a game director that Motomu Toriyama. On the other hand...Hajime Tabata? Crisis Core was just awful. I've heard better things about Type-O but I'm still a little apprehensive. Although, all that said, maybe its a moot point anyway. Once a game is this far along in development (and I don't just mean because its been so long, the trailer looks pretty far along) perhaps the bulk of the major directorial decisions have been made and it is mostly just grunt work to actually put it all together.

He never directed any of the main games.

Oh yeah. I forgot FF fans hate innovation.

What was wrong with CC?

This game has zilch to do with XIII. And why are people talking about the driving like as if it's going to be the main point of the game? Did I just dream the parts in VII and VIII where you drove cars?

How did I know people were going to complain about the lack of female characters despite the fact we just came off a trilogy dedicated to the most powerful female in the series?
