this seems pretty interesting, having myself done an analysis of the movie in college. Need to get finishing the actual book though

I take it that the Sam Hamm in this book is not the screenwriter of the 1990 "Batman" film, but it'd be a kick if it were.

'It smacks of hipsterism, proclaiming that Battle Royale can never be neutered because it's just that much deeper and darker than, for example, Lord of the Flies.'
Speaking as someone who enjoyed Battle Royale (the novel and film), I can say confidently that anyone who made such a comparison between it and Lord of the Flies would be a complete and utter nitwit.

It is, actually. I think that's part of what made the essay so good.

He also compared it to The Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby. It was absolutely the weakest essay in the book, and I'm really not sure how it managed to make it into print as the introduction.

This seems like an interesting release. I may have to recommend this.
