I don't know if there's been a topic like this before, but...

Once you've finished an anime, do you ever rewatch it to catch things you missed, or if you liked the anime and can't get enough of it? Or do you sell/delete it after so long?

I sometimes will rewatch a series to catch little details I might have missed, or when I didn't care for it and want to rewatch it to see if I can appreciate it a little more. However, when I really like a series (such as Cardcaptor Sakura, Kodocha, Azumanga Daioh, etc.) I will usually rewatch it numerous times just for the fun of it. For a series that is confusing/long, I'll rewatch it to further understand the plot, but as long as it isn't too boring/uninteresting.

You mean to say, anime that we've bought, as opposed to watching some other way.

For example, most anime I watch is via online DVD rental. So I don't own it ... nor does the business model motivate me to rewatch anything, as it's in my interest to return each disc a.s.a.p.

Most of the rest, I watch on TV. So unless I tape it, there's no capability to rewatch, let alone motivation.

Then there are a few productions I'll buy on DVD. Those I'll definitely rewatch; seems silly to only watch once when paying that much.

I've watched several series multiple times. My personal record is 10 times through FLCL, but for that show it's special because it takes a few watchings to get everything. I think it's pretty common for people to watch a series multiple times, especially if you buy a dvd rather then rent it, seems like a waste of money if you only watch it once Wink

I watch almost everything I own at least 2 times, first in sub then in dub. Unless the show is god awful then I will only watch it 1 time then never again.

Besides that minimum count, I usually watch most series like 10 times or more because most of the stuff I own is stuff I really like. I will probably still enjoy the same thing even upon the 20th watching rather than some random crap on TV, so I like to rewatch. Also, I tend not to get bored easily and don't usually concentrate on story. I just watch anime to look at the nice pictures, therefore I can watch a ton of times and still like it.

For ADVision releases I never watch the dub cause they stink, but I'll usually still end up watching many times because I watch most shows many times.

I have no idea how often the most often-watched animes I have watched are. Probably way too often.

The most unusual thing that I will do though, is that when I buy a new anime that is good, not only will I watch it many many times, but I will watch in many many times in rapid succession, like once every day or two, and watch nothing else in-between. Mostly cause I'm too lazy to take the DVD out of my player so I just watch the same show again and again. I wish DVD anime series would come out all at once to save me from being stuck in these mini time-loops but ohwell! Very Happy

Yeah, I like to buy my favourites so that I can watch them over and over.
If I really love a show, Ill try to get someone I know to watch it with me the second time, because having someone who hasn't seen it yet watching it with you can almost recreate the experiance of watching it for the first time.

Rarely. With the exception of Slayers and Azumanga Diaoh, there's yet to be a series I've rewatched. Even those that those that I really really enjoyed, like FMA, Elfen Lied, Scrapped Princess, Saber Marionette. If I had Tenchi Universe, I would be watching the hell out of that one though.

Sometimes I watch a show twice- once through with fansubs then again if it is licensed and released on DVD. I have a few favorites I've seen multiple times, but I have a large enough backlog that I don't have much time to rewatch anything Anime smile + sweatdrop.

Now I'll rewatch certain episodes over and over again, but an entire series? Rarely.

I rewatched my collection several times. And the longer I've had it, the more I've watched it.

I don't skip around in watching my collection. I start with the Japanese dub of the As and work my way down the alphabet. Then I start all over again with the English dub.

Of course, recently I've bought so much, I've been trying to catch up with my new stuff instead of rewatching my old stuff. I was supposed to have started watching the English dubs last October...I haven't even started.... Embarassed

I wish I had so little of a life that something like that would be my main concern. Razz Must be nice.

I gotta rewatch NGE soon, and of course I'm always rewatching Samurai Champloo since it's so good Very Happy that one I can enjoy for the music, pictures and general atmosphere.

It's harder to rewatch series that are more plot-heavy though. I got quite a few of those on DVDs but I never buy anime unless it's A+++ quality, so it's more motivating. Razz

All the time, it's one the benefits of having a large DVD collection. You've always got something to entertain you. Right now I'm halfway through Scrapped Princess.

Just so you know...I've thumbed my nose at you!..several times... Wink

Hey, even without the new stuff I've purchased, it took me over 1 1/2 years to get through the Japanese dub. Of course, I wasn't watching 5/6 episodes daily and sometimes I went several days without watching any (I haven't watched at all this week...bad me). Now that the TV season is over and the Repeats will start, I'll watch more. Of course there is still work, eating, sleeping and books to contend with.

I've watched, and re-watch, NGE so many times the VHS tapes can't be tracked anymore ... so I have it on DVD now. Smile

I normally will re-watch anime ever so often. I just finished re-watching Mobile Suit Gundam a few days ago. And after that I picked through a few episodes of Zeta to confirm stuff that I might have missed the first time I watched it. I find I re-watch shorter animes series and movies more often since you can plow through them unlike a 50 episoder.
