I have never seen a soccer ball curve like that into the back of the net in all my years of playing. Sure I wasn't playing pro level like them but what made me question is when they show the back of the net and how curved back it hit, it doesn't seem real

Even though it's really cool that real soccer players try to recreate the magical shoots from one of my favorite childhood anime, I must admit it does look really really fake. The first one also looks fake.
I think in this specific shoot, the players would likely to break each other's legs than to create awesome-long name-whatever shoot. I'd rather have the videos to show funny real failure footage than computer-generated shoot. |

Well this 2nd one is very doable so definitely not fake lol
edit: I definitely like that, use as a setup as a fake out lol Last edited by nhat on Mon May 05, 2014 4:27 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Soccer balls certainly do curve. It's the same mechanics as behind throwing a curve ball.
Here, I Youtubed some real life examples for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CMCbY-BtZY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eVxLT2BUik And here is Beckham, bending it... like Beckham. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAapNN0mgx8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N6G8XlyCMM |

I'm watching it on my phone so it's hard to see this curve, but it looks completely doable. All they're doing is kicking the ball a millisecond after each other.
And football players can definitely make it curve at ridiculous angles. |

And they just show the world what type of training is Japan undergoing only to find out they're making use of Captain Tsubasa series. Too bad, other countries particularly Spain,Italy and Germany will comeup with counterattack.
I assume their counterattack will be probably called "Super Counter Tsubasa's cool shots with real shots!!!" |

Yea I wasn't questioning the curve because I seen it and I do it similar just when they switched camera angles to behind the net and where the ball ended up I never seen before.... then again after I kick the ball and I see the curve and it ends up past the line, I don't pay attention after that lol. |

Even though the camera angle switch was AFTER they kicked the ball and CLEARLY going to the back of the net, the first response by some people is:
FAAAAAAAKE!! THEY SWITCHED THE CAMERA!! |

Some people are just naturally cynical, I guess. Anyway, I do enjoy these videos because it shows how actual sports professionals were inspired by titles like Captain Tsubasa back when they were kids. There are some fans who seem to want to treat more over-the-top portrayals of sports in titles like Tsubasa, Kuroko, Prince of Tennis, Ring ni Kakero, or even Hajime no Ippo (in some instances) as a negative trait, even wondering if the creators knew anything about the sports they were writing about, but videos like these show that these creators definitely knew their sports. Sure, in real life some of these special moves can't be replicated 100% in every single detail, but even then the ideas behind them are still based in real life. That's what inspired the readers: The moves they saw could theoretically be done, even if some of the effects were impossible. Of course, there are exceptions. Inazuma Eleven definitely goes into absurdly impossible almost immediately, but that's part of the appeal, while Prince of Tennis eventually heads into "going beyond the line" levels. Still, that really comes down to the individual creator to decide where to put the line, if one exists at all. |
