This sounds like the beginning of either a bad hentai or bad horror anime...

Can't it be both?

Never heard of any of them, they must be really small indie groups or possibly lesser known local idols. The festival needs some more well known talent or more well known local idols.

My thoughts as well. I listen to a lot of idol groups, but I've never heard of any of these people. Then again, it's just been announced. Hopefully, more groups will commit to participating.

It also sounds like the setup for a lame harem setting: Guy in a plane or boat crashes into an uninhabited island and when he thinks help has arrived, it gets worse because an idol group arrives instead.

Probably some newbie writer who heard about this probably already started making a new series based on this.

Why the hell would you do a concert on a deserted island. Confused Or maybe they are trying to reenact that scene from Flags of our Fathers. Oh wait, wrong country and wrong island

Arrgh, why can't we have a big J-pop festival like this outside of Japan (I mean we get big K-pop concerts like this one in LA recently and in other part of the world outside of Asia). From reading this article, this idol festival look as big as maybe SMTown or Music Bank World Tour (Music Bank will go to Brazil next month BTW).

I mean this is so lame. I wish we had a big J-pop festival like the one on Okinawa. Mad

they are small or no name indie groups. The probably one don;t go to Idol Festival. This gives other groups opportunities.

Idols are Japan's equivalent of garage bands - there's at least one in every school district.

Hint, there was a link on the name "Afilia Saga" in the parent article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afilia_Saga
http://afiliasaga.jp/

From Wikipedia: It is jointly produced by two people, Chiyomaru Shikura [Mages/5pb] and voice actress and singer Haruko Momoi.

They have appeared at the Anisama Super Game Song Live 2012, Animelo Summer Live 2012, Animelo Summer Live 2013 and 5pb Live 2013, and are scheduled to perform at Animelo Summer Live 2014. (So I've seen them 3 times now).

3 songs of theirs have appeared in the weekly Oricon top 20.

They have a song each in Steins;gate and Hyperdimension Neptunia.

So they're not Momoiro Clover Z or one of the IdolM@ster groups, but they're not totally unknown.

^They also sang the opening for NouCome( My mental choices are... whatever else it says) They aren't huge but they aren't unknown either.
Cute girls though.
