Media.Vision was the developer and Sony (SCEI) was only publisher...
dont know how exactly copyrights works on japan i think publishers usually holds copyright for certain amount of time

anyway if u check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media.Vision u'll see that Media.Vision isn't Sony(SCEI) exclusive, and had already worked with SquareEnix

Media.Vision was only the developer for Wild Arms. And as i said the IP still belongs to Sony. It's even shown on their wikipedia page. Not Square Enix…. Who the developers are really has nothing to do with that fact, at the end of the day SS and Wild Arms are still Sony's IP.
