Doesn't it seem kinda childish? I miss the old Final Fantasy, wish they'd remake 10 Confused

The PS3 remake of FF X is available now.

I've played FF XIV on the PS3. I've been playing as a "gladiator," who usually plays the "tank" role in parties. (I'm at level 28 or so; my avatar's named "Gamagoori Senpai." Smile) On the PS3, I have real problems targeting enemies in large melee battles. Players using PCs seem to fare better in this role. I wonder if that problem will persist on the PS4 platform?

Then please, do tell. Cause I believe that its irrelevant to be complaining about, "the old Final Fantasy," When the concept of, "the old Final Fantasy," revolves around single player JRPGs. Not MMORPG's.

And IMO, this game is more than enough to cater my wish for an old Final Fantasy game. It has a grind like in FF1-6, a story with the concept of the main character in ff1. An story similar to FF6 and 12. And great primal battles. Plus, the fan service is strong within this one. So like FFXI, there are many possibilities to pay homage or develop content in stories revolving the franchise.

I believe my comment has been misunderstood. I meant, I don't know where to begin addressing the comment from Shiori. You outlined pretty well my problem with the assumption that the game doesn't take inspiration from the older ones. yuna49 brought up the fact that a remastered version of 10 literally just came out (how you can expect a full remake, I have no idea). There's also the "childish" adjective used that I don't understand in the slightest either.

D XIV is probably one of the most serious Final Fantasy out there. Storylines about conquest, enslavement, rape, comfort women, hostilities between nations. Lots of real world issues and parallels given the nature of the world.

Then you get quest-lines like Hildebrand, the Gentleman Inspector Wink

Laughing Final Fantasy always mixes seriousness and humor pretty well I find.

I imagine it's easier on the pc as you'd just be able to click the mob, which would mean the problem would be the same on ps4 as it's still a controller. (I haven't played it however, so there might be different mechanics I have no idea about)

Both the PS3/4 support keyboard and mouse if you're that concerned about it.

^ I think the problem on PS3 is just that the sheer amount of player/mob models don't load properly, compared to PC (and presumably, PS4). In high numbers, models load much slower, and they disappear outside of a certain (close) range, making targetting incredibly difficult on the system.

There are actually videos showing that using a solid-state drive on the PS3 helps to rectify the problem.

Not that I play XIV or anything, but I was researching what benefit SSD drives had on the PS3 a little while ago and came across the issue. That, and I played XI for far too long...

And as for the previous "childish" comment... was FFX your first FF? =/ The series has used SD and chibi sprites/models for close to 75% of its games, and never used to shy away from comic or cutesy elements in addition to its more serious plotlines. Not that XIV looks anything like the old 2D art styles (aside from some oldschool monster designs), or the SD elements of VII, IX, or the various remakes (aside from fat chocos and a few other throwbacks). It has Lalafell like XI's Tarutaru, and in general the game has more of an adventurous high-fantasy look than the series' latest trainwrecks (which even SE itself is now admitting that they've lost their identity). XIV bombed on release, but they've been doing a pretty good job of re-inventing it into something that is drawing in XI fans, oldschool FF fans, and high-fantasy RPG/MMO fans in general. So if you really claim to miss the "old" FFs (and X barely counts in that regard...), FFXIV is the closest you're probably going to get to oldschool FF for quite some time (especially with its myriad of throwbacks to previous games/elements in the series).

Already had an SSD in my PS3 for GT5, so perhaps mine ran better than most, but the real trick was turning spell effects off to keep mobs loaded properly (although, even then, the game couldn't keep up with the swarm that flooded around Odin).
