Seeing Kyousogiga doing so badly just irritates me so much =(.
I don't understand how such a great show got thrown under the rug in japan. |

Heh, Tangled still in there. How apropos since Frozen Blu-ray already comes out today in America, while it only got released in Japanese theaters this weekend.
A lot of good shows are under-appreciated by the masses - Japan is no different. |

A slow week, but we'll get another huge week next week. With a ton of V1's.
Here is hoping that Sakura Trick really is underestimated.
Low sales do mean something is under-appreciated. Last edited by Rederoin on Tue Mar 18, 2014 10:14 am; edited 1 time in total |

I hear you. But don't get mad. The reality is that Japanese otaku do not appreciate well written stuff if it does not have a healthy dose of pandering elements. Celebrate great anime. Ignore fans with crappy tastes. |

I'm also sad about Kyousogiga. It was my second favorite series of 2013.

It's not that Japan doesn't appreciate well written stuff.
It's just that the show didn't appeal to the anime disc buyers in Japan. I'm sure some people in Japan loved Kyousogiga but they weren't willing to buy the whole series, because, really, anime costs a lot of money.(I wish I was rich enough to afford buying anime) As to why people didn't buy Kyousogiga but do buy other stuff like Free!, Symphogear or IS, well, the show had a lot of stuff to appeal to them and it had a lot of re-watch value for them. Yes, it's tough when your favorite show doesn't do well but really...there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. |

ANN just messed up, none of the BDs ever, and never will, make it past 1k. v6 isn't out yet, Symphogear G is supposed to be in its place. |

This sounds like a big contradiction. If people love something, they should want to buy it. Quit trying to apologize for the crappy tastes of Japanese otaku. I am thankful to them for financing anime, but the majority do not seem to appreciate well written stories and characters. |

If it wasn't for the fact that buying 1 single anime series costs so much, you migth have had a point. So i'll stick to my previous sales, that low disc sales do mean something is un-appreciated. Most serious otaku will only buy 1 to 3+/- series p/season, not all the series they like. Just because you're an otaku, does not mean you're rich. Disc sales are also not the only source of profit a series has. Space brothers, Symphogear S1, Aku no Hana, Nichijou where all profitable, even if they have/had low disc sales. As for the rest of your post about the taste of others. Blablabla, your opinion, blablabla, you know the drill. |

Didn't Nichijou also see much better sales when it was released as a single boxset several years after the individual discs were released? If so, this might just mean that the Japanese market is behaving similarly to the American market, with some people waiting for cheaper, collected editions before buying into a show.

It also tells you that no one but otaku watch late night anime, so if it's not in line with what otaku of any gender want, it's not gonna get bought. The uninitiated to anime aren't watching this stuff, and certainly aren't buying it. They buy stuff like Shingeki no Kyojin and pretend nothing else exists. |

You also got exceptions which actually sell more units than its original release(Kill me baby and GJ-bu!). Although thats ussually related to the cheaper price & increased popularity. |
