Hope Kurumada does not take long to resume it, we need this finished so a proper anime adaptation can be possible.

Just business as usual really, ND usually goes by two seasons (ie two tankobon) a year, so we knew the hiatus was coming after next week.
I'm still homing we might eventually get 3 volumes a year, but with his hand condition I'm not sure this is possible.
As for an anime, withe basically 9 volumes done there really is nothing preventing it as this point. TOEI should just go for it, and go with a yearly OAV series that would adapt the previous year's content..
If they wait for ND to conclude, we ain't gonna see an anime anytime soon because this is likely going to last another decade or so.

I didn't read the manga but would surly love an adaption for ND. I think we could see it happening after Omega ends.
From what I searched about ND, it seems that to features mainly Athena and Shun as the main characters (not Seiya ?).

Seiya is comatose in a wheelchair. It features Tenma (18th Century Pegasus) instead though.

Well, to Kurumada's credit, he does do stuff aside from drawing Next Dimension. He has to "OK" what's done in the spin-offs drawn by other artists, he's involved in the new CG movie, and he also writes his own music based on his works; every single Marina del ray song is written by Kurumada himself, for example.

It should also be noted that Kurumada has a a serious condition to his right index finger (basically : after 40 years of drawing mangas, his cartilage is gone) which makes the whole process of drawing painful and is slowly distorting his hand. He's following threatment to slow the progression of this condition, but he admits himself it'll probably get to a point someday that he won't be able to draw anymore
This has been a going for a few years, and indeed this is probably the reason Next Dimension has such an uneven publication.
So the whole lazyness bit is really uncalled for - Kurumada could very much retire and lives off all he gained from Saint Seiya and the spin-off, yet he still continues to draw Saint Seiya to this day even though it literally could cost him his hand.
If anything he should be commended for such dedication to his work.
(And indeed he is pretty involved in various other aspects of Saint Seiya, supervising the spin off and all)
