I read the first chapter about 2 weeks ago and already interested. Levi's one of my favorite series and is voted #1 among fans of the manga so I'm not too surprised by this spinoff's popularity. But ofc, that makes me happy as well.

I knew this spinoff was gonna burn past the usual print run, but still this knocked me off my feet.
AoT is really the new rising powerhouse, it seems. Glad to hear it personally; Levi is among my favorite characters so I can't wait to own this whenever it sees a stateside release. |

I bought the issue at the Shibuya Animate. With a cover like that how could I not (it also came with a Levi clear file)?
They were really selling the issue at the store. Not only was it in the usual place, it was also up in the front by the register so you couldn't miss it. |

10 fold increase AND still sold out XDDD
I was right pre-ordering it. I'll do the same for the next issue. |

You can pre-order a magazine? What do you mean? |

Sure just like you preorder anything else. I've been doing it for years. If it is a prize you want or it's a special issue preordering makes sense. You can do it at the usual suspects: Amazon JP, Cd Japan, Ami Ami etc. |

Yeah, I thought 500% was quite small given the SnK fandom.
1000% is a bit more like it, though I think the print run will increase even more for the next printing. |

I live in Tokyo so I usually pre-order magazines at my local bookstore. I don't think there are many 'regular' online stores that do it, amazon.jp offers pre-orders only for books or 'anthology' publications but not magazines unfortunately [at least that I know of. Aria for instance doesn't seem to be listed as a pre-order item]. maybe some export specialists do. |

I went to Animate in Ikebukuro and picked it up the day after release without any issues. Leave it up to Animate to know it'll be in high demand. They've still got tons of quantities on their shelves. The chapter itself was very good imo, and it further kindled my interest in Levi/Erwin. *___* Since it'll be on the cover of the next issue too, I just might have to go out and buy it. (I normally only buy tankoubons.) |

better safe than sorry it is sold out online and in many bookstores [as far as I know] animate never betrays us but it's just easier to get it at the local bookstore for me. |

Question: Do I need to be up to date with the original manga to understand this one and the Before the Fall spinoffs? I'd like to check it out, but I'm still working my way through SnK and I don't want to get "spoiled" so to speak

since it's a story set in the past, telling how Levi and Erwin met and how the latter got the first to join the Survey Corps, I think you'll be fine. I'm not reading Before the Fall [yet] so I can't help you there [but I'm sure someone will ] |

I used to preorder from Amazon.co.jp all the time. Perhaps they don't have this particular magazine for preorder or perhaps they don't do it anymore. I admit I don't really use them much anymore because of shipping costs. Anyways I checked and Ami Ami did have it but it is sold out. However it looks like it is still available on CD Japan http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOBK-1587192 |
