There are a couple things not mentioned in this article that may also help people out.
First of all, if the forums/articles are too narrow for you, with a lot of empty space on either side, go to Account settings under My ANN and change the option labeled "text width." By default it was set at 100, but many people find 200 better. Or you can use the Other option and choose the exact width you want if neither of the pre-set options are quite right.
Secondly, some people have issues with the new color scheme of the site. (A whole bunch of white). Well, under My ANN you can choose Change Skin to try out some different options. You can also even create your own skins, though I'm not sure about the details of that. Some of the skins seem a bit quirky with how they work on the main page, but you can experiment and try to find an option you like.
Oh, sometimes the skin may revert to the default one after doing things like logging in/out, but this is a bug that will hopefully be fixed soon.
Hope this helps.

This doesn't happen. I choose list with images, but everytime I close the window and open a new one, the layout goes back to the large images. Same goes with moving the side bar to the bottom of the screen. Everything resets when using a fresh browser.

New ANN looks kinda cluttered, just looking at it makes me feel lost.
The previous ANN was so much cleaner, and nicer looking.

Is there a blue background layout?
Everything new looks confusing, but it does feel like stuff lost focus with the loss of the nice eye-loving blue. Now my eyes just avoid the white and stuff is near the white. Weird.

Go to change skin under My ANN. An ANN Blue skin is available.
Though that's not saving for me either...

Old layout looked clean & was extremely easy to navigate with. New layout looks cluttered no matter how I alter, can't say much more than that this looks like a poor design choice.

Someone needed to justify their webdesign position on the payroll so they had to break it so they can spend the next couple of months "fixing" it.

Lol, no it isn't supposed to reflect anime/manga as visual mediums! It's supposed to reflect that you guys are pandering harder to the tablet/ipad crowd! This site looks like Windows 8!

The thing about "progression" is that sometimes, we move so fast that we forget or overlook what was great about the past, and our future decisions reflect that by coming short in one way or another that something in the past covered perfectly fine.
It's not an excuse to never change and it's not an excuse to laud the past. The new ANN layout is a huge step in the right direction for the future. But it sacrificed some things that made people like ANN specifically, and that kept it very useful as a site that could be used for research on general information or quick access to the great variety of things we liked on the site without having to shift through a bunch of stuff we might not care about as much (and some of our computers load slow enough that having to click multiple links to read those areas can be more trouble than it's worth).
Which is why I'm extremely happy they listened to the fans of the site (and I'm sure a few of them probably agreed with or added a few points, too). I thank the relevant staff SO much for being concerned about the experience of your readers in the wake of change, and I will eagerly be awaiting that particular update as I get used to the current changes as well. Good luck on the site, now that it's open to the public for good, and I'll be happy to give feedback on my end, to do my part in trying to make ANN friendly for all! =3

Which browser are you using? I'm using Chrome and that part is working for me, but I noticed that I am forcefully logged out more often than usual, even though I checked the "keep me logged in" box.

True, true. And the Illuminati ordered the hit on Kennedy because he was getting too close to the truth about our cockroach-alien overlords.

Actually I thought this layout redesign was pretty well handled. They could have kicked the beta phase down the road a little further to work out a few more problems, but it could be worse. They could have handled this like the A.V. Club or (shudder) Salon.

I elaborated more in the feedback thread, but I'm using Internet Explorer.

I want to take the time to comment on this new layout.
I think this was well done. It is well organized with pictures for each important headline. It makes full use for people who owns a HD monitor.
It has better spacing and it makes good use of feature articles or news on the right hand side.
My only problem is the layout on the menus. It can be done with less clutter (for example, when you put your mouse on the encyclopedia menu and you see a set of other options) and more simplicity.
Other than that, I like the new interface. Keep up the good work.

I really like the new look. Mainly because I can actually browse the site on my phone now. I didn't like the default grid style but list with pictures looks really good.
One change I would suggest is that if you could combine filters. For example If I only wanted to see news about anime and manga, I would check "news, "anime" and "manga". And when I would do that the column on the right wouldn't disappear like it does now when I press one of the filter buttons.
