You guys who know me long enough know that I'm not into April Fools' jokes, particularly on a trusted website like ANN. However, this new piece of information came directly from the official website of Shakugan no SHANA:
I wonder if this is just another ad campaign from the production companies, trying to draw people's attention to their real product: the movie on April 21st. |

I don't think the Japanese celebrate April Fool's, but I still remain skeptical...
If the announcement stays up past tomorrow, then I will believe it, but until then, I will suppress any fanboyish excitement I otherwise would unleash in the form of "OMG SRSLY!?!?!?!?" |

Yes, I saw this on another forum and thought to myself it may be another April Fools joke, and if so, that's NOT funny. I want a sequel and hope this isn't a joke.
Just like that entire KH2 FM + "Secret Ending". It's an amazing video that is beautiful and could show the next Kingdom Hearts game, but it came out in March 29, so that could be a joke. |

I've got an idea! Lets wait a day and we'll know for sure.
makes more sense than pointless debate when theres no way to confirm one way or another. |

I'm not sure if anyone was debating this or not yet.

"OMG SRSLY!?!?!?!?"
Really this is grand news I hope to god this isn't an April's Fools joke, though I don't think it is or it is one that was circulated really well. |

Does an OVA count for anything? It looks like an OVA will be released sometime in 2007, well that and of course the confirmed DVD R2 release and the banner for the site seems to not be true. I am pretty sure it would've been on their news script, but instead it talks about the release of the DVD and the videogame for the DS. Exciting news I guess for the fandom out there. Don't quote me just yet about the OVA I've yet to see anything else other then on the frontpage the moment you enter. The frontpage hiragana in Japanese says in romanization Ebatsushi Kukan with the exception of one character, which I couldn't see clearly enough to translate, and unless if my Japanese is really that rusty, it translates to nothing.

Okay, after crawling around in other places, I think I can actually believe this.
There appears to be this, which apparently shows and describes the planning and pre-production of the second season. There's also the argument that a large-scale announcement such as this would cause irreparable damage even if they were to take it back, and that making such an announcement a hoax would be a damaging not to mention incredibly stupid corporal move. And not to mention AFAIK the Japanese in general don't tend to celebrate the holiday or play April Fool's jokes anyway, much less a corporation that needs to keep up a positive reputation. So on this note I think we Shana fans can begin to rejoice even with a long April Fool's day ahead of us. At least, I hope that's the case. [EDIT] Typofix. |

Thanks for the link. With original creator, original illustrator, director, and other higher ups all together to make such a formal announcement, I'm pretty sure it is NOT a hoax. |

Oh I certainly hope this is not some sort of joke.
If there is indeed a second season of Shana, I will be extremely happy. I really loved Shana and a second season would be just amazing IMO. |

Type-Moon did pretend they were making a high school yaoi game last April Fool's Day. This doesn't strike me as an April Fool's Day joke, though. It lacks that sort of "no way, they'd never do THAT" absurdity of Type-Moon yaoi or "Welcome to the NBC." If this were an April Fool's Day gag, it'd say something more like "Shakugan no Yoshida" or something, I'd think. Just in case, though, I'm waiting until April 2nd to get excited. |

Well The Japan Times did report that the famous landmark/meetingplace statue of Hachikō had been stolen, and that a sister city in France had offered to replace it with a bronze poodle.
So I wouldn't say that Japanese don't celebrate April Fool's. (Thanks to KyuuA4 for the link) |
