okay lately I've been seeing on a lot of peoples posts that they call anime animes.

okay to clear it up.

Anime in plural form is anime. NOT animes.

the same goes for manga, shojo, shonen, yaoi, yuri, doujinshi and otaku.

all of them can be singular or plural so they dont need an S on it.

that is all.

Hah, thanks for the help. You know, because I've been watching alot of shojos and shonens lately, and I always wondered if I was using the correct grammar in the word "animes." I've also been reading some yaois, yuris, and doujinshis also. I've got a huge collection of mangas in my room.

I guess we're all otakus after all.

The word's origin is Japanese and in the Japanese language there's no plural form for inanimate objects, so the correct form in the Japanese language for both single and plural is only "anime".

I once said "animes". It was a typo.
And later I was looking at the post, I was like, "Oh my WORD did I actually say "animes"?? I am ashamed"
I agree. "Animes" is very annoying.

Shouldn't there be an extra "e" in there?

Like, "animues"?

Maybe animeses?

So last night, I watched an anime, and then I watched another one. One was shojo, and the other one was, too. Then my friend came over, who is an otaku, just like me. We had some taco, and then ate Mexican food, because neither one of us would really like to eat an octapus, or even two of them.

Then the Swedish platypus team stopped by, and my parser exploded.

You are correct. They misspelt "grammar" as "grammer".

And I happen to be a "he" not a "they."

Well, that's what I get for using indeterminate gender neutral terms in a laguage that does not allow for explicitly removing gender in cases of polite ambiguity.

You could have said he/she...and what laguage are we speaking again? Well anyway, we should get back on topic...that other post was complete sarcasm.

I've said animes and mangas before. I actually never knew that you shouldn't add an "s." I'd sometimes switch it around, like sometimes add an "s," and sometimes write it properly. So seriously, thanks for the help, because it makes me feel a lot better that when I post the word "anime" or "manga" here, all the otakus on this site won't be laughing out loud in their heads.

It came from the English word "Animation." However, I'm pretty certain that is true for manga and all the other ones.

does it really matter? I mean as long as we get what they're saying, "animes" or "anime" doesn't bother me.
