Nice trailer.
I've only seen Millenium Actress and one episode of Paranoia Agent on [adult swim], but I loved MA, and I really liked the episode of PA. Based on that, I'm eager to see Paprika. |

To quote Zac, run, don't walk to the video store and buy all of Kon's DVDs. These are titles that you want to buy, they're that good. But if you can't, then rent them, and if that's not possible, well, do whatever you have to to see these movies (and the 1 TV series). ANN recently polled many of it's staff and contributors for a Protoculture Addicts article on best director. While I won't tell you the end result of the poll, I will tell you that several staff members ranked Kon #1 on their personal lists, above Miyazaki. -t |

I have everything I except for Perfect Blue in my Netflix queue at the moment. After seeing the excellent piece of work that is Millenium Actress, I quickly added everything else. I'll have to look elsewhere for PB though, because Netflix doesn't have it. -_- I love Miyazaki, I can see why many people like Kon better than Miyazaki. Kon's work is amazing, from the little I have seen. Edits: spelling, grammar Last edited by Jedi General on Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:42 am; edited 2 times in total |

While I don't usually recommend going to places like Suncoast for most anime purchases, you can find Perfect Blue pretty easily there for 15-20 bucks which is a reasonable price. It's very good. |

I've heard it's very good, and thanks. There is a Suncoast in my area, so I'll check it out sometime. |

I rented Perfect Blue when it was still a DVD new release and was blown away, I bought it at Zellers for $20 a few weeks ago. I rented and enjoyed Millennium Actress, followed by Tokyo Godfathers. I was stunned by the visual quality of TG, but disappointed with the story, I do not own either. I have seen all of Paranoia Agent, unfortunately the later episodes and ending seemed to degenerate in context, aka started strong ended weak, so I have not purchased it either. Paprika on the other hand looks visually breathtaking and contains the same atmosphere as Perfect Blue. If I cannot see it in theatres, which I assume will be the case considering anime features limited releases in Canada, I'm most likely going to buy this DVD prior to renting. Unless Sony plans two releases, such as a special edition, which I'd wait for.

I got it. Sony Pictures of course. Now can I convince my job to pick it up once it's released. Looks good and confusing. That's 'Satoshi Kon for you. You can always count on him having some interesting take on the "psychosis". |

Well, Rotten Tomatoes has it as a limited release, but then again it has the release date wrong .... I would expect it to be a limited release though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't anime feature films usually limited releases in theaters in the US? |

Yes, usually anime films only get a limited release in the U.S. Before I moved to a new state I had an arts theater that usually picked them up, but no such luck where I am now.

Wow, I hope it comes to the theater close to my house. At least I know that it's coming now.

You and me both. I've got quite a few theaters near me, but the downside is that limited stuff almost never comes to any of them. I can only hope that Paprika is different. |

As far as I could tell, I didn't see anything about a limited theater run anywhere in the Paprika site or the Apple site. I was assuming it was going to be limited since it's an anime movie after so I went to check Paprikamovie.com and they didn't have like a theater listing of where it was going to be screened (like they usually do with their limited screenings) but I didn't find such list. I'm hoping it will be release nationwide. Maybe I'm just blind and didn't see the theater screening list?
