Yeah I'm going to have to go with Dark Horse on this one. Dark Horse has always been a strong publisher, long before they put out any manga. What I like about DH is that instead of buying up everything and canning things like crazy as well, they just stick with a few select series. And they put a lot of time and effort into them, Berserk and Hellsing are two fine exampls (even if berserk 15 is getting really late). I never find spelling or grammar problems in their books and it's a refeshing change of pace. Even if they are going overboard with the "FX" sounds in Berserk recently. So who do you fancy?

My manga collection right now is mostly Viz, though Del Rey is getting much more representation than it used to. I don't really read Dark Horse because none of their titles appeal to me, being a fan of shoujo. TokyoPop also has some representation, but I haven't been buying much from them recently, beyond Dramacon.

99% of my collection are titles released by Viz, but I admit it's because Viz holds the license to most Jump titles and Shounen Jump is my favorite Japanese manga anthology.

I don't really have a favourite, but that's really because I don't have a large enough collection/I haven't read enough to know which are better than others. I have Tokyopop, Viz and Darkhorse, and it's a pretty equal distribution (about 5 books from each publisher).
I know that I like how DH has darker stuff, and Viz is pretty reliable, I guess, but I haven't really seen enough of any

I guess that'll be Del Rey for me, because they're releasing some of my favourite titles (School Rumble, Genshiken), they have good quality releases in general, and are consistent in releasing their manga without edits.
A close 2nd would be Viz, despite their inconsistent editing. They simply release alot of the stuff that I enjoy reading, from I"s, to Black Cat, to Nana, to Monster.

For me, it has to be Seven Seas without a doubt. I own very little from them (Boogiepop, Kashimashi), but from what I have, it's left me very impressed. The print quality's been excellent, as well as the paper stock used. Most (if not all) of what I've read has included at least a few colored pages, which are a nice plus. The translator's notes are extremely in-depth, which I find extremely useful. Added to that is the nicely done Boogiepop guide they put forth within the Boogiepop manga (and light novels). I can't say I'm not looking forward to ordering a new title from them in the future if it strikes my fancy.

Dark Horse is my favorite. Between Eden and Berserk, they've got the best titles on the market, and they do a good job with their releases.

I don't have a favorite per se, as I have many titles I really liked from different companies. The two I have the most from though would be Tokyo Pop and Darkhorse, followed closely by Viz. I tend to buy and enjoy more titles from Tokyo Pop and Darkhorse so I guess I'll go with them. I do enjoy Del Rey and have some titles frm them but not much. I loath ADV's manga line as they totally screwed that concept up.

Although I have a lot of Tokyopop titles, I'd have to say that my top two are Del Rey and Seven Seas. The production quality for Del Rey and Seven Seas manga is extremely high and the translations appear to be excellent. Between the two, Seven Seas has a slight edge, but I haven't seen enough from them yet to be sure that they really are better.
I'm going to have a chance to really evaluate Seven Seas soon since they will be releasing about 8 titles that I'm interested in by the end of 07. (I can't wait for Strawberry Panic! and Nymphet a.k.a. Kodomo no Jikan especially.)
Del Rey is also coming out with a couple of things like Princess Resurrection that catch my eye and they'll never lose me as a customer so long as they publish Negima! I may check out Kitchen Princess too. (It looks cute and sweet.)
Yes, my tastes are all over the freaking map.

For me,
Del Rey > Dark Horse > Seven Seas = ADV Manga > VIZ Media = TOKYOPOP
Del Rey started off weak, but they've got progressively better; Dark Horse is hillarious. They try to advertise their stuff as being "anti-heroic", but when stuff gets really mature they wet their pants because their real audience isn't older audiences, but thirteen~sixteen year olds who want to rebel against the mainstream. Haha, I can just imagine how they'll confront Mozgus in Albion for Berserk.
VIZ Media was, once upon a long time ago, my favourite publisher, but now I've become a HUGE critic of Viz since as they've got bigger, their manga has gotten progressively worse. It's even more frustrating when people compare VIZ Media's manga to their television counterparts, as is the case with One Piece; give it a break, people. Different companies, different modes of information transmittance, different standards for editing.
TOKYOPOP has always been bad, though, so while VIZ Media's quality at times is comparable, I'll still value TOKYOPOP more since they were innovative. Heck, we could still see $15~20 manga if it wasn't for TOKYOPOP going nuts all over the industry.
Not familiar with Seven Seas, but I've head good things from them and I registered at their forums a while back to beg them to get the Haruhi novels before VIZ butchers them.
ADV's decent, and they've got interesting titles. I value their manga more highly than their dubs.

Hmmm I would have to say that my favorite right now is Del Rey, all of the manga I've gotten from them has had excellent translations and text layout, plus almost every one of their manga includes some sort of extras at the end as well as translation notes which I enjoy reading.
Of the very limited amount of Dark Horse manga that I own (which is only two volumes of Hellsing) I'd say they do a good job with translation and layout.
Viz and Tokyopop are kinda all over the map (sometimes even in the same series!), its like one manga will be perfectly fine, well translated and laid out and then you look at another one were editing errors abound and words are split apart onto separate lines with or without a hyphen. But I guess it shouldn't be that surprising given the number of manga they publish and the number of different groups they have working on stuff (though you would think they'd still have slightly better quality control).

It was tough, but i think Tokyopop would cut it for me.
I think whatever manga you buy from them is good quality
Manga originally from shonen jump tends to have bits of the frame trimmed off
or to dark frames where screen tones have been used.
As for Dark horse, i've never read any of their manga.
Could anyone name any titles worth seeing?

my favorite was always Viz, for the sheer number of decent titles they have, but recently Dark Horse has become my favorite. Apart from Blade of the immortal, i never really gave dark Horse a chance, but then i started reading Hellsing, Oh My Goddess, Whats Michael(i think thats dark horse), and just recently Reiko Zombie Shop and Berserk. the only thing i dont like about DH is the more expensive price, that kept me from starting Hellsing and Berserk for a LONG time.

I'm not really sure what you mean here, does "wetting" themselves entail slapping parental warning stickers on books? Since that's all they really do, aside from volume 13 (which was annoying) the stickers are small. And they don't do anything of the like with Hellsing. Since I started reading there stuff (1996ish) they have never been real heavy into edits.

In ADV's defense, the manga that they did release which I have read was fairly well done. They made some major mistakes in marketting and picking up things, but the books themselves I don't have an issue with.
