For about the last month or so there has been talk about the hit 1980's anime, Voltron. In September's issue of Newtype USA there was a DVD set containing the first 15 episodes of Voltron up for grabs in the "Gotta Get It Giveaways" section.
This, to some people, could be a sign and is a sign that Voltron will probably be making a re-appearance in months to come. Alright why bother even considering about this topic, Voltron is coming back!
Upcoming and Previous Releases: September 26, 2006On this date last month, Media Blasters released, what I stated above, a 15 episode DVD set of Voltron which appeared in it's "original" broadcast form.
November 21, 2006 Coming up next month is Volume 2 of these original Voltron episodes.
2008 Mark Gordon, Producer of Voltron, is currently working on a Voltron movie which is expected to be finished sometime in 2008. There is no title at this time unfortunately.
So with the current developments involving Voltron presently, what do you expect to come out of this - Is this something you are looking forward too and why?
I guess you could all say I'm looking forward to this because I only got interested in the series right when it ceased to air on Cartoon Network. So I think it would be a bit cool to see what I missed out on.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope to see some of your responces!
[EDIT: Made your topic a bit more title-specific. -TK]
I for one, am not all that excited that Voltron is seeing a release on DVD because I'm not a huge fan or anything, so I don't have an interest on dropping $$ down on it. I'll more than likely give it a shot on netflix when they get it though.

Given that Voltron is already enjoying a pretty good following even now, I can see a lot of new merchandise in the near future. I think it's going to end up a lot like Robotech, the only reason you'd pick it up is because you saw it as a kid.
Even though I used to watch Voltron on Toonami, I'm personally not all that looking forward to the DVDs because I'm more looking forward to the upcoming Golion DVDs. The dubbing in Voltron is so horribly cheesy, even more so than Robotech, and the censorship cuts made are so obvious even if you haven't seen the original. "Oh noes, nobody died during all that destruction. They just hid in the underground shelters that we so conviently have! And that's not planet Earth; it's just some other fictional planet we changed for the hell of it even though it's so obvious that it's planet Earth!" Seriously, Voltron's dubbing makes 4Kids' dubs look like masterpieces. I wish they would hurry up with those Golion DVDs and released them first instead of Voltron. I've been waiting for the past decade to see Golion. Can't the Voltron fans wait a little longer for Golion's sake?
