I somewhat enjoyed the first lost planet. If they're linking the third game to Pacific Rim then the odds of me enjoying it are slim to none.

If it turns out that the "rig" in LP3 has some sort of uber melee weapon that destroys enemies effortlessly can I use it from the beginning of the game, instead of waiting until the end after all sorts of pointless destruction and death has occurred (due to the ineffectiveness of the other weapons)? Cause I'm still facepalming over that debacle with the mech-sword in Pacific Rim and I haven't mastered the art of dual-palm facepalming yet. Wink

Minor thing: it's "Jaeger," not "Yaeger."

Sadly, Lost Planet 3 is done by a different studio than 1 and 2 and doesn't look to be anything like those games. It's being handled by some guys who did some Call of Duty games which is unfortunate.

"Pull out your best weapon at the climax when you could've used it the whole time" is like one of the oldest goddamn shounen tropes in existence, don't play PR for using it.

While I hope LP3 will be better than two, I'm still don't really care about this game. Maybe this collaboration will have something cool.

Do we have to go through this again? It does not matter who makes the game. It doesn't matter if a game was developed in America, Canada, Japan, Denmark, Britain, South Korea or France. All that matters if the game is good. I've said this before and by the love of God, I'll say it again. Just because a game comes from the west=/=abomination nor does it equal FPS. Lost Planet was always a shooter anyway, so don't complain about that. Likewise, just because a game is from Japan=/=good. We can play stereotypes with JP games too and say the only games they have are about stupid Italian plumbers fighting the same villain over and over or RPGs, that seem to get worse and worse every game they make. Stop being such a gaming elitist. The funny thing is that not even the Japanese view western games in the same vain you do. Sure, they have the "yo-ge kuso ge" saying, but you. You're just something else. If I have to tell you this one more time, I swear I'll murder my kitten or something. -__-

To be fair Spark Unlimited(the deveolper of LP3) dosen't really inspire confidence.

I mean yeah, thinking that anything western automatically sucks or is a bro game(whatever that means)is stupid, but LP3 has a lot to prove. Truth be told it dosen't look that bad, fps mechs not withstanding. And well it can't be worse than two.

Lost Planet 2 is legit good and it makes me sad it still gets used as a punching bag. :'(

I think I'll give 3 a rental or something (can't remember the last time I've done that). I'm kind of bummed it's going completely in the snow/monsters direction and away from the robot hijacking/anchor antics, but considering I love the entry with a bad rap, it only seems fair to at least try it out.

This sounds interesting - not that I would get it but I enjoyed the first - let's see how this will turn out. 29th of August, bit of a fast turn around?

It's not just common in Shounen either, it's a thing movies do all the time. Hell, Iron Man 3 did the exact same thing.
