I hope that we get a new Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla feature at some point. I hope this one is better than that other piece of crap. Sorry didn't like the Godzilla the "iguana".

Why is there so much hate for Roland Emmerich's version of Godzilla? It looked more realistic than the Toho version!

Looks like this Godzilla will be more faithful to the original, based on the image in the latest poster. Godzilla's my favourite monster, so I'll be rooting for the big guy.

I sure hope this is better than that 1998 one
has there been any word if it's set in Japan? I sure hope so, that was the 98 movie's first big mistake, Godzilla just does not look right stomping around anywhere but Japan

That was generally true up until Godzilla Final Wars, where Godzilla went city hopping in order to decimate any monster that gets in his way. The end result was beautiful. Godzilla can go anywhere he wants... The thing we saw in 1998 just wasn't Godzilla, even Toho says so.

You summed up what was wrong about Zilla.
Essentially, he threw out what defined Godzilla's character in favor of realism and made a movie with more "Glory to our American Army" than, you know, ACTUAL GODZILLA.
There's a way to do plausibility for powerful characters (Man of Steel comes to mind), but it has to be balanced with keeping to the character/identity of that character.
