Hello everybody,
I was looking at the list of licensing companies and I found one I had not heard of before; Enoki Films. I looked at their licenses and it was confusing, because they had anime already licensed under their list. I went to their website and it seems that they have (under their titles list) Super GALS, Ikki Tousen, The Slayers, Revolutionary Girl Utena (which is now Ursula's Kiss), His and Her Circumtances (which is now Tales of North Hills High), as well as several other titles that aren't licensed by any other companies (and a couple more that might be, too.) So what is this "Enoki Films"? YourNeighborTotoro (Edit, fixed Bold titles and added link to page.) |

Honestly, I don't know, I've noticed them but have yet to see them release anything (apparently they have though)... they may just be a very small company so it takes them a while... I think they're more of a Japanese based company with a small American/European branch.

I'm starting to think that they might have the TV license to several shows (after all, they talk about how a lot of there shows were popular on Fox Box (now 4Kids TV).

Enoki just uses different names for the series they licensed and the companies they sublicense their properties to use the correct title, so none of those series are actually named that now as you think. People on the AnimeOnDVD forums know all about Enoki, so they aren't bothered by it, but think the names they gave the series were kind of stupid. Enoki is nothing more than a middleman licensor. They license something and then they sublicense something they own to somebody like TRSI or CPM. Also, that website hasn't been updated in a long time. The thing is about the name changes, I have no clue, but maybe they were trying to market the titles differently or something. |
