The only thing that bothers me about watching anime on DVD is the length of time between volume releases. The series I'm watching now are Eureka 7, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, UFO Ultramaiden and My-Hime. It does'nt seem like I'm going to see the end of any of these 'til the end of the year. Talk about anticipation, especially since I've read that My-Hime starts getting even better in the later episodes. Oh well. I'll just have to suffer.

take Ultramaiden off that list and those are the exact same ones I'm waiting on
 Personally, the waiting sucks, yeah, but at least it prevents me from watching the entire thing in just a few days. Not to mention that buying them one at a time at 2 month intervals helps me from going broke since the cost would be quite staggering to buy the entire thing all at once on the first release.

Well, there is the other option - don't start watching a series until the entire run is out on DVD, or if you have the willpower hold out until boxsets or thinpacks come out. That's what I've started doing with the few series I'm interested enough in to buy and show no signs of showing up on television.
It might be fustrating not being able to talk about popular series immediately, but if the series is good it will always continue to be talked about. |

Gankutsuou is the only series I've tried buying by volume and it's been torture. The money, the time, the patience...too much. I'd rather buy cheap box sets
 .

I admire all the people who have the willpower to wait until the entire series comes out. I absolutely can't do that. I'm not afraid to admit it, but I download the series just so I can see it all. However, I do buy them when I can (unless they are really bad... then I just pretend I never watched it).

Waiting two (or three, in the case of many Viz titles) months between releases can be a real pain. This isn't a big deal with something that's low in the plot factor like Kodocha or Strawberry Marshmallow, but its a pain when dealing with more plot oriented series like Fullmetal Alchemist or Gankutsuou. It's been a pain waiting for each volume of FMA and I haven't even started watching Gankutsuou yet because I want to be able to watch it all in a short period of time.

I've just gotten the 3rd volume of My Hime and my God! I want to see what happens next. That spoiler[nasty little brat Alyssa Searrs and that B**** Miyu Greer] may be some of the best villains I've come across this year.
Like Webki, I admire those who can wait for the box set. But I'm trying to train myself to wait as well. There are several new series that have come out this year but due to some things said here on this forum or in magazines, I'm going to wait until the box set appears. But others...GIVE THEM TO ME NOW!

This doesn't bother me. If I'm following three or four series on dvd, I can usually fit in enough time to watch three or four dvds worth in a month. Lots going on here. With a couple of series, I've had to go back and watch things to remember what was going on. Texhnolyze was the worst for that, I just gave up and watched the whole thing when it was completely released. I've got a couple of complete shows upstairs that I picked up when the Media Plays went under, and I haven't had time to watch them. Acourse, if I spent less time on the internet...

FMA was the first show I watched as it came out on DVD, and I swear I'll never do it again. By the time I finally get to the next DVD, I've forgotten all of the important plot points of the previous one, etc, ruining any sense of drama and continuity. I finally stopped watching around DVD 5, and will just wait until they're all out, then rent them again from volume 1. I find it's much easier to be patient on DVD purchases if I don't tease myself. No renting (or buying) any of the DVDs until almost the entire series is out, if not the entire series. Renting first is also useful, because then it adds to my ability to wait until a boxset comes out before I purchase. There are exceptions (ie, truly fantastic buy on the first volume of a series plux the boxset), but the exceptions usually don't get watched until more of the series is out, so I don't have to deal with forgetting plot points. |

I can totally get you. Waiting month-after-month for anime releases... Right now I'm in the end-run of Gankutsuou, FMA, Detective Loki and Karas. I'm just beginning Elemental Gelade - but I'm unsure if I'll continue it since it'll cost quite a bit. I plan to get Shana when it releases in September. After that, I'll focus on manga and thinpak/boxset collections I want. It's been a rough road - my credit card bills prove this is fact.

Actually, when it comes to waiting between releases I don't notice the wait, which is surprising for somebody as impatient as I am. I usually am watching other series to tide me over while I wait for another release. The only series that I have really had to wait for, though, is Peacemaker Kurogane, and I actually enjoyed waiting for the new DVD volumes. I would buy the newest release, then watch it with my friends, and then we would discuss it and the previous episodes until the next was released.
I'm also not the type who could sit through many episodes in one sitting and I would be so tempted to do it if you hand me a boxset. I also don't like saving up for boxsets (especially not from Suncoast, whose prices are rather insane at times) or waiting for them to be released, so I usually wind up buying the individual volumes either way, if it is possible. But sometimes I will buy the boxset if it is the only option for me -- I almost bought the Magic Knight Rayearth series on boxset because Suncoast never seemed to have the individual DVD volumes where I live (I only ever saw them when I was in Hawaii, and in a Borders no less), but I lost interest in the series trying to save up for the boxset for so long. |

I never really notice the wait between discs... I buy anime so much faster than I watch it, I always have a nice backlog to tide me over. (Usually somewhere areound 40 discs.)
I do get a bit antsy when I realize it's time for the disc to arrive. (For example, Elemental Gelade vol. 2 comes out the 15th. Since most of my DVDs ship 7-10 days early, I should be receving that one really soon, so I'm getting excited.) |

I tend to lose interest in a series if I don´t get the whole thing at once. Most recently, I picked up volumes 1-4 of Gankutsuou, I haven´t picked up volume 5 yet, and haven´t really made any attempt to pick it up, I could´ve gotten it during the Right Stuf sale. I´ll probably pick up 5 and 6 when 6 is released.
I also picked up Haibane Renmei volumes 1-3, and have been looking for volume 4 at a reasonable price, $20 is my price limit, but just forgot about picking it up cause it´s been a while since I saw the first 3 volumes. |

It doesn't really bother me, aside from anime I have no shortage of other hobbies and activities I can use to occupy my time. If the time frame was dropped to a month I'd certainly be happier but I'm not that worried about it. I never have a problem remembering exactly where I was or what was happening so I can put 2 months between volumes and still get right back in to it and the 2 month gap makes the expense much more tolerable.
